I glanced up from my book at w 4th street and noticed a very tall attractive guy with facial hair and a hat. He was with a shorter girl with a scarf around her head and full pouty lips… very distinctive full pouty lips… and then, as they walked out through the open doors, I had a flash of recognition— it was Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett. No one else seemed to take any notice, but my mouth hung open as I was left craning my neck, desperate to catch another glimpse of them in the rush hour crowds." ...a very tall attractive guy with facial hair and a hat... that sounds a lot like Josh! :D |

And to your question why I "doubt this particular story more than any other": Well, Josh and his famous girlfriend can certainly afford a taxi and something like that. It's a risk to take public conveyance if you are a Hollywood star! I mean: It always can be that a passenger says [loudly]: "Look, there is Person XY, the Hollywood actor!" or something like that. And as a star, what would you do in such a situation?! Then it's for sure that you get all the attention, and in a public transport, it's like a trap: You cannot get out of it until the train/bus etc. stops at the next station. Thus, I don't think that this story is true. | |

It's great to think they can still use the most convenient form of transport in New York, regardless of the fact it puts them in close proximity to the general public. Plenty of famous people still use the underground in London so it's not totally unlikely that a native of New York should carry on using public transport either. |

| Creative Maven ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have to agree with Kate. A lot of celebs live in NYC because they can carry on a relatively normal life - public transportation, walking down street, and sitting in a coffee shop. Most of the fuss made over them a lot of the time is the photogs or tourists visiting the city. The people who live there probably couldn't care less. I say this only because I live in L.A./"Hollywood" and despite popular belief we don't fall all over ourselves to get to celebs. Sure it's fun spotting them, but it's not that hard to do sometimes. But again much of the fuss is done by the media and visitors to the city and of course those who want to hang onto a celeb's coat tails. For most of us everyday people born and raised here it can be a pain in the a$$. It's expensive to live here because of the celebrity element and because of the tourists that element attracts. And when the photogs are running them down in the street, innocent bystanders get caught up in the fray. |
