'Break Up' with Yorn due in September

Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johansson's "Break Up"

Actress/singer Scarlett Johansson teamed up with singer-songwriter Pete Yorn for a collaborative new effort, "Break Up."
USA Today reports that the album, due Sept. 8 via Atco/Rhino, was inspired by Serge Gainsbourg's recordings with Brigitte Bardot in the '60s. Yorn wanted to work with the actress after the idea came to him in a dream.
"Break Up," produced by Sunny Levine, consists of originals penned by Yorn plus a cover of Chris Bell's "I Am the Cosmos" to create a story of getting together and breaking up. Johansson recorded the sessions with Yorn in only two afternoons some time in 2006, two years before Johannson released her 2008 Tom Waits cover album "Anywhere I Lay My Head."
Yorn was having a busy year already, as he prepares to release his fourth full-length album "Back and Forth" at the end of June.

Hmmm. Sounds like they maybe cashing in on Scarlett's success. But that's the synic in me. Thank you for the info Bill, what type of song will this be? Similar to her abum? Or off in a different direction?

I'm not a huge Yorn fan but it will be interesting to see what he does with Scarlett's winsome vocals. The Tom Waits album was fantastic and smart and I have high hopes for this one too. And covering Chris Bell from Big Star's legendary song is a bold move! Very crafty!

I was really surprises too Nola. I like this one, it's upbeat and sounds like it's mastered a bit more. And before yesterday, I had never heard of Yorn.

From what I read, she actually recorded this CD before the last one. I guess if people will buy it, go ahead and sing then.

I really love the cover. To me she looks pensive not bored. I dig that. Her song is really good also .
But what really peaks my interests is that Ryan Reynolds has a thing for chics with quirky voices. Is it just me or did anyone else hear a tad of Alana in her voice?
