Johansson Confirmed for "Iron Man", Too

First, we got confirmation that Mickey Rourke is on board to play the Russian villain in Iron Man 2, and now E! Online has confirmed with Scarlett Johansson's representative that the actress has indeed signed to play the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow.

"Scarlett is thrilled to be a part of Iron Man," her rep, Marcel Pariseau, tells me.

The Jon Favreau-directed sequel is scheduled for a May 7, 2010 release.

Great news! She is going to make a great Black Widow! I was hoping that The Spirit would've been a big hit because I love Frank Miller but this one is going to be huge!

Don't worry, Nola, Scarlett is an established actress and she will always do independent films too. That is her bread and butter but it never hurts to do a big Hollywood project from time to time. Especially one as popular as Iron Man!

It will raise her profile, but this second Iron Man film needs to be as good as the first and then better it. Look at the Fantastic Four films. They weren't that good. Plus I hope that this film (Iron Man 2) isn't rushed due to the forthcomming Avengers film.

I think I read an article that there would be four superhero films released in 2011- Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Spider-Man 4 and I can't remember the fourth one. That's going to be way too many in one summer!

Yeah I don't like that idea. There should be at least two, as more than that, some will get overlooked.

You've got a great point Andy. I don't normally like superhero movies other than the Spider-Man franchise, but I did like Iron Man. And I guess I was the only one in the entire world who hated The Dark Knight.

You weren't there Timothy, my boss didn't like that film either. Iron Man 2 will do well, as it's the same cast and director, but will it suffer from the same fate of multiple villians like Spider-man 3?

I actually liked Spider-Man 3. I love Ron Howard's daughter Bryce Dallas and she was so beautiful with the blonde hair. I just thought that some of the storyline was a little silly with Tobey strutting around like some kind of stud.

I thought there were too many villians. Maybe Harry and Sandman, that'd have been good. I hope that Scarlett has a fleshed out charcter. I mean not a 2-D one.

I can't remember which actor said it Nola, but he said that he did the big cheesy blockbusters to pay the bills so he could be free to do the movies with scripts that meant more to him on the side.
