Scarlett to Star in "Iron Man 2"?

Entertainment Weekly is reporting the rumor that Scarlett Johansson is in discussions with Marvel Studios to replace Emily Blunt for the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow, in Iron Man 2.

Blunt's commitment to 20th Century Fox and the studio's upcoming Gulliver's Travels may prohibit her from co-starring in the superhero sequel.

Marvel will not confirm, but sources tell EW that Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role. Blunt's reps are still trying to make both projects work, but "Gulliver's" is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn't have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined.

I saw that, thanks for posting it Rebelman. Either way, she has no movies in her future at the moment so It'll be good to see her taking on a new project

I'm not familiar with this villian. (Heck I'm not a comic book fan to be honest) I thought just from the title she was going to replace Ms Paltrow as Pepper. So what's the villian like? I can imagine Scarlett doing a Russian accent. Thanks for the info RebelMan.

I've read where Scarlett has actually talked to the producers about this, if the story is true. I also agree with you Nola, this is not a good project for her.

Well that last name you mentioned.... Was in the first one, right at the very end after the credits as Nick Fury agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

As for Miss Johansson or Miss Dushku.... I don't want to choose. However, Eliza is working on DollHouse.

Scarlett Johansson is the new face of Moet & Chandon’s expensive bubbly.
Frédéric Cumenal, the head of Moet & Chandon, said Johansson was "the obvious choice."
"She, like Moet, has a magical story to tell and makes people dream. "She is a true icon of celebration — refreshingly spontaneous, generous, glamorous, and she lives life to the fullest both on-screen and off."
Scarlett is also taking a page from Angelina Jolie's action-babe career handbook and has just been offered the part of the sexy Black Widow in "Iron Man 2."
According to the Daily Beast, the salary is a bit low, only about $250,000, That's reportedly what Marvel Studios offered Johansson and Mickey Rourke to be in the film. Also starring in "IM2: are Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Samuel L. Jackson and Don Cheadle.
Well, however low the salary is — thanks to the recession and California’s financial problems — even big-name stars aren’t turning up their noses at smaller paychecks.
And Scarlett — who has never been known as a big gym bunny — is already hitting the iron to get in shape for the demanding role

She was spotted working out this morning at Train in West Hollywood with her trainer, Bobby Strom. ScarJo is working out with Bobby three times a week (at least) with a combo of cardio and weights.
“She spent 10 minutes on the Elipticore and was really working up a sweat,” a Dish Rag spy says. "But she already looks amazing, even with her cap on her red hair, in a vintage T and three-quarter-length tights.

Her new husband, Ryan Reynolds (who first trained with Bobby for his role in "Blade Trinity," right) was also there working out. Bobby got Ryan in shape for "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" too.
And Ryan may have even advised his gorgeous wife Scarlett on how important it is to get into shape for these action roles. Forget those period bodice-rippers, honey. Go for the big action bucks!
He’s just wrapped "X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and there’s talk about a possible spin-off for Deadpool, his character in the film.
We could totally see this hot couple in a steamy love scene in a big action film.
