Hollywood production coming to Baltimore

More proof that Baltimore is becoming a veritable Hollywood of the east...
New Line Cinema's comedy He's Just Not That Into You, starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Scarlett Johansson and Kris Kristofferson, is scheduled to shoot for four days in Baltimore next month.
Plans call for the film to shoot Nov. 16-19. No positive word yet on where, or which of the principals will actually be coming to Baltimore (which, according to imdb.com, is where the film is set), but here's one sure way to find out:
As part of next weekend's fund-raiser for the Maryland Film Festival, a role as an extra on the film is being auctioned off. (Information at the MFF website, md-filmfest.com).
Better hop to it; this may be your best chance, legally, to get anywhere close to such Hollywood royalty


Well, since the film takes place in Baltimore, it's nice they're filming a little of it there

I've only read the 2nd book, "It's called a breakup because it's broken"... nice stuff. Wonder how the movie might be!!

Ha ha! Well, I thought/think that this book is more for ladies... but in a different point of view, it could also give an insight into the emotional world of the females. That could be interesting for the guys!

Which means lots of relationships and, more importantly, lots of women. But Connelly has an idea of how to take a good story and make it even better — let her actually meet the other women!

A-list actresses Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Connelly will be in town this weekend, shooting the final scenes for He’s Just Not That Into You to lend some geographic authenticity to the romantic comedy set in Baltimore.
Set to be released next summer, the movie is based on the popular self-help book by comedian Greg Behrendt and Sex and the City writer Liz Tuccillo. While the film’s plot has been kept under wraps, the book lists all the excuses a woman concocts for why a man she longs for doesn’t seem interested.
Ginnifer Goodwin of Big Love and Kevin Connolly of Entourage will also be filming scenes, which should start today and continue through Monday. But most of the ensemble cast, including Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore, won’t be on location because He’s Just Not That Into You was shot primarily in Los Angeles.

Dave Fulton, the movie’s publicist, says the film is expected to wrap this weekend with a number of indoor and outdoor scenes, including some in Mount Vernon Square and outside nearby restaurants.
Yesterday, despite the rain and wind, crew members started work, altering the facades of Thairish and the Helmand restaurants on Charles Street. While the entrance of Thairish only was covered with cardboard, the Helmand underwent more drastic changes. The Helmand’s manager, Assad Akbari, says contractors with the film changed its sign and swapped out the front door.
Although the filming will affect the restaurants’ hours, Thairish owner Kerrigan Kitikul jumped at the chance to have Hollywood stars in his small restaurant.
“I just closed the whole weekend,” Kitikul said. “It’ll be good to have time off.”
Mount Vernon residents might be slightly more inconvenienced.
The city Department of Transportation issued a traffic advisory Wednesday stating the west side of Charles Street will be closed intermittently between Centre and Madison streets.

Actors Kevin Connolly, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Connelly surely fell under the spell of Charm City as they filmed scenes for the upcoming romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You." According to The Baltimore Sun, two of the city's most beloved Baltimore eateries, Thairish and Helmand, provided a backdrop for the three thespians as they stepped in front of the camera on November 17, 2007.

Movie buffs who wish to taste the fare served at the filming locations will embark on an epicurean adventure when ordering from the two Mount Vernon district restaurants. The names of tempting Thai take-out treats, including panang curry, fried shrimp satay and masaman curry with chicken are written on a chalkboard menu that hangs on the wall of Thairish, a bijoux Baltimore diner with an Asian ambiance, while the appetizing aromas of such Afghan cuisine as vegetarian aushak, chicken kabob and kabuli entice foodies into Helmand restaurant, deemed one of the best dining destinations in Baltimore in a Zagat survey.

Then yesterday afternoon, Johansson stopped into Jimmy's Restaurant in Fells Point for a crab cake and her first taste of scrapple. "She looked so pretty in person," said Pamala Jollymore, a waitress at Jimmy's. "She's so gorgeous, and she was really nice, too."
