Scarlett about her engagement (she's engaged!), the troops and Heath Ledger...

Scarlett Johansson returned from the Persian Gulf with a whole lot of soldiers’ trinkets and a delusion of her own engagement — to Barack Obama.

“I am engaged … to Barack Obama,” Johansson joked in an interview with The Associated Press on Thursday. “My heart belongs to Barack, and that is who I am currently, finally, engaged to. Yes.”

Johansson, who showed her support for the Democratic presidential candidate at the Iowa caucus earlier this month, was really just deflecting a question about rumors she might be engaged (to actor-beau Ryan Reynolds).

The 23-year-old actress talked about the warm welcome she received while visiting troops stationed in the Persian Gulf last week. Johansson dropped by U.S. bases in Kuwait on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18 as part of a USO tour in which she met about 3,500 men and women in uniform.

“Everybody that I met there was so incredibly friendly and polite and genuine and generous,” she said. “They were so, so sweet. I mean, I was just amazed.”

Johansson said some people ripped patches off their jackets as gifts and handed her challenge coins from their military units. One Marine offered up his St. Christopher medal. Another starstruck guy gushed: “You made my whole deployment!”

Johansson has a full plate for 2008, with the release of films including The Other Boleyn Girl and He’s Just Not That Into You, as well as the arrival of her debut album on May 20.

The disc, called “Anywhere I Lay My Head,” features Tom Waits cover songs and one original track. “It was a really, really sort of inspired process to make this CD, and it was something I’d never done before,” said Johansson, who said the album has a dreamy, ethereal quality.

On a far more serious note: Johansson was still speechless Thursday over the death of fellow actor Heath Ledger, who was found dead Tuesday in his Manhattan apartment.

“I’m really just so very shocked,” she said. “He was an incredibly sweet, kindhearted and enthusiastic person. And, you know, he loved his daughter — I mean, that was like the light of his life. It’s just a terrible loss.”

i came across this new josh interview, i was going to look for it on the hartnett bunny section but i was too lazy for that, and as there are some around they could post her opinions here:

How do you deal with rumours?
95 percent of them are false and I just laugh about them. It’s funny how they connect you to everyone in the room. They called me a Hollywood cad. I think it’s fantastic, having only been in two real relationships in my life.

my doubt is that its ellen and scarlett who hes talking about when he speaks about his two real relationships? i know ellen is one but not so sure about the other.

why do you doubt that? I think, now that we bunnies "study" our boy, it can only be Ellen and Scarlett. Who else should it be? with Ellen he was for several years and with Scarlett at least almost 2 years, so why do you doubt it´s her? or them?
I think it´s just plausible that he means them

i mean, i dont know exactly the full story of josh's lovelife so i wanst sure about the second, i knew that he had this long term relationship with ellen but i didnt know anything else besides dating a model, katie holmes and scarlett. so if its scarlett then its great ;)

by the way, have the bunnies discussed this down there?

well as he said: 95 percent of what is written about him is Bullsh*t! which model? with Sveva it was friends as it seems like he has, unfortunately, a few model freinds.
with Katie Holmes, as far as I know he said that was not true cause they are friends for long (I have teh feeling they aren´t anymore now, well not close LOL) but no relationship as far as I know

but what do you call it what he had with Scarlett? just a fling? I guess not for almost two years. So ......... It can only Be Ellen (of course) and Scarlett

thats what i assumed when he said real relationships, but as you can see, i dont have much knowledge on joshs lovelife though when i meant the model i say it because i saw once some old pics of him holding hands with a model, a blonde one, i cant remember well.

eme, it's not been discussed, like Kers said, I think most Bunnies thought it was Ellen and Scarlett.
Josh was with Ellen on and off for years and with Scarlett from (about) Spring '05 to November '06 (as you know). As for other women (Penelope, Sveva, Gisele) I'm sure he's had flings with them and more but he obviously doesn't consider them "relationships".

Yes, a lot of the connections are probably just friends but I can't believe he was with Pen for all those weeks without "the benefits". Fact is, he's a young healthy man... sex is always going to be important and there's nothing wrong with that.
