Scarlett Johansson: 'I'm Not Promiscous'

NEW YORK (AP) - Scarlett Johansson says that while monogamy might go against instinct, she's happy in her relationship with boyfriend and recent ``Black Dahlia'' co-star Josh Hartnett.

``Josh is very sweet,'' the 21-year-old actress says in an interview in Allure magazine's November issue, on newsstands Oct. 24. ``He's a good boy. A great person. I'm very lucky and I'm very happy. Contrary to popular belief, I'm not promiscuous.

``There does seem to be a mistaken belief out there that I am sexually available somehow - which is not to say that I'm not open-minded about sex,'' she continues. ``Yet I wouldn't say I'm a serial monogamist, either. I mean, I went through periods of time when I was, ah, single. But when I'm in a relationship, I'm in a relationship.''

But Johansson, whose films include ``Lost in Translation'' and ``Match Point,'' still acknowledges monogamy might not be natural.

``I do think on some basic level we are animals, and by instinct we kind of breed accordingly,'' she says. ``But as much as I believe that, I work really hard when I'm in a relationship to make it work in a monogamous way.''

Johansson has another confession.

``I get tested for HIV twice a year. ... One has to be socially aware,'' she says. ``It's part of being a decent human, to be tested for STDs. It's just disgusting behavior when people don't. It's just so irresponsible.''

Ok, so she's not promiscuous but she's not necessarily monogamous either. Poor Josh, it sounds like he's got his hands full. At least with the extra strength sound proofing in the walls of that NYC loft you won't be able to hear the screams.

How is that "poor Josh"? It sounds very much like she's monogamous now, "But when I'm in a relationship, I'm in a relationship.'' even if in the past she hasn't been, maybe in less important relationships with men who don't come close to Josh. Who, by the way, is the man who makes her feel "very lucky" and "very happy".

I thought you'd pick up on that, Jocasta. Well, first of all, Allure magazine is neither the New York Times nor the Washington Post, not that those two newspapaers have a monopoly on the truth, but I would take anything I read in a fan or celebrity magazine with a few grains of salt. Secondly, there is no such thing as bad publicity. If the article, truthful or not, sells movie tickets (and magazines), it has fulfilled its purpose. Lastly, Johannson and Hartnett are actors. They are paid to assume roles. As evidenced by their films I have seem, they are rather good at this. How they behave in private may be completely diffentent from how they behave in public.

I'm not that naive, in fact I'm always ready for the "so-called interviews" in magazines and tabloid newspapers.... more than ready...

The media likes to give it's celebs an image; both Josh and Scarlett have images they have been given, which maybe nothing like their real selves... there are stories I've read about Josh that don't go along with his "given image" and they get little or no publicity. So I'm fully aware of the games the media and some celebs like to play.

Scarlett says something, they got it the wrong way and then spread the rumour /gossip that she´s unfaithfull and sleeps with other men while she is in a realtionship with Josh!!!

That sucks!!!!
Why can´t they leave them alone and have their private live! Why can´t they acept that Josh and Scarlett are happier than ever before????
They love each other very much and these f*cking journalists accept that and leave them alone with their feelings!!!
