The Prestige - Page 2

I just came from seeing The Prestige. I thought it was a most intriguing film. Scarlett Johansson has a rather small but not insignificant part in the film which concerns the rivalry between two 19th-century magicians in London, England. Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale star as the two magicians, Rupert Angier and Alfred Borden. Michael Caine plays Cutter, the inventor of many of the magic tricks used by Angier, and Piper Peribo plays Borden's wife. Johansson is Angier's on-stage assistant. The film is directed and the screenplay was written by Christopher Nolan of Memento fame, along with his brother, Jonathan Nolan.
Several magic tricks are explained throughout the film but the ultimate trick, invented by Nikola Tesla (David Bowie), remains unexplained. However, without giving anything away, it has recently been accomplished on an atomic scale. Watch closely at the conclusion of the film for the key to the film's plot. I rate this film 9/10.

I was hoping you'd go and see it. I'm glad it's as good as the previews make it out to be. Maybe Scarlett's small part had a lot to do with them not having her promote it.

The weekend box numbers are out. The Prestige came in first place with 14.8 million.
