Johansson on her Boleyn Girl role

Scarlett Johansson has promised that her performance in period drama The Other Boleyn Girl will convince movie fans she is British, Digital Spy reports.
The actress will star as Mary Boleyn who had two children by King Jenry VIII even though she never married him.

The star brushed off complaints that three Americans - her, Eric Bana and Natalie Portman - had scored parts in the quintessentially English tale.

“The three foreign actors will be using English accents," Johansson told the Daily Mail. “I'll take away the eyebrows and the make-up and you won't notice I'm American.”

She added, however: “I'm a bit scared about it, because it's such a melodramatic tale.”

Henry VIII reigned from 1509-1547 and was partially of Welch ancestry. I doubt that anyone knowns for sure how he and other Englishmen sounded 500 years ago. We would have written material from that time but not oral material.

Oh that Scarlett. Would have been nice to see Keira in the role since she was the one they originally wanted, but Scarlett and Natalie are just as good. I'm not sure if Keira was supposed to be getting Scarlett's part or Natalie's, either way if Natalie and Scarlett are in it I'll watch it.

Keira was supposed to play Scarlett's role, Keira and Natalie really look a like but Scarlett and Natalie...? it will be difficult to see them playing sisters even though it will be a pleasure two see to starlets full of talent on the same film!

That's what I thought! Keira and Natalie would be perfect to play sisters. Scar and Nat look nothing alike so it will be a bit unbelievable. Plus it would have been very interesting seeing Keira and Nat playing together.

I agree, that would have been an interesting combination. However, these three are professional actresses so no matter who is paired off they should be able to make it work with costuming and makeup. Actually, Bill, it’s not that difficult to find tons of info on just about any topic. The trick is to separate truth from opinion. Find separate instances where the same information is given by disparate sources. Then it is possibly true or at least it is a consensus. Since the great library at Alexandria burnt, there has never been so much information available freely to so many as there is right now via the Internet. All you have to do is have the patience to seek it out. End of sermon; please pass the collection basket.
