Can you guys believe that ??? How's sarah going to communicate with her fans now ? and what about smgboard ? First TAIB is not expanding anymore and now this ?!?!!? I cant stop crying...this is the worst day ever.

Bwahaha, man, I was one of the first messageboard posters on it back in 1996 when Lawless owned it. Man it was good times. The site and forum went to sh** in 1999 when Lawless sold it off.

All I can say is good riddance, the forums posters on it nowadays was very nazi, its why I came to lh.com forums in 1999. The site style of updated was very dated too. Owell, R.I.P.

The forum is still going ,it's just the news section which has been slow to update in recent times anyway

Hackers have gotten into their site on several occassions and posted similar opening pages. I'm not saying it's not true, but so far no one on their boards has even mentioned it. Time will tell the tale.

Slow RELIABLE news are still way better than sites that update everyday with random stupid rumors, in my opinion at least. SMGFan is/was not a professional website, and it's understandable that full time jobs and other life obligations take priority on a fan site.

Yeah, but what other site did Sarah use to send messages out to her fans? Not often, of course, but I know of no other. This might, just maybe, cause Sarah to establish an official site of her own. Still, it is a disappointment.

There has still been no official word there from any of the Mods. Perhaps it will, Ed. Freddie has his own site. I'm sure they would have plenty of volunteers to get it up and running. As you know - it costs money to maintain a website. I had one for years and the charge for bandwidth alone would probably be quite a bit. I'm still paying for the domain and I use the site to store my pics. We shall see and hope all works out for what is best for Sarah.

This is sad, very sad :(
i loved that site even if the graphics were awful i didn't mind for that, it was the only reliable source we had..
anyone knows the reason? did they had a fight with someone or they were bored of updating?
i'm still shocked i can't belive this, i mean we were punched by the TAIB release and now this? :((

I think it's kind of bad form to be so abrupt about it if it is true. At least tell the moderators beforehand if you're going to shut down. Leave a farewell message to the members or something.

The thing has a fishy smell to me.

Very sad news about this. I do understand bigbears complaint as well, as there is a poster called SMGFan. Though as nice to hear that nobody has passed on, it is still sad to hear that this site is no longer online.

They appear to be keeping the message board. That I think is where most of the bandwidth usage would come from so I doubt it's a money thing.

Probably just lack of interest and time.

Well, the forum still exist. I understand your anger, having had trouble at the board during the era Fink/Mendoza as well. I remember I was down because of it. After all I never sought to make any trouble, yet it was what I was accused of. Slight notations of sarcasm, jokes where seen as OT or worse flaming (only few selected members were allowed to do that). Requesting explanations via PM why other members had been banned was seen as revolting, and so on. It still makes me mad.

But I know that Mr. Glenn Fink didn't do that (or let it be done by co-mods respectably) to be mean or show off his powers. I don't think he's a bad person. Coincidence just lead him to misunderstand intentions of members of the SMGBOARD over and over again. After all he just wanted to the place to be nice and respectful, so that people coming to the board would think "oh, what nice people here, you don't find that often on the net". It eventually earned SMGFAN.COM (which has been an unofficial fansite all of the tim) special thanks by Sarah Michelle Gellar herself.
