"Butt-Kicking Babes: You were right, we were wrong. Oct 18, 2007, 12:30 PM | by Marc Bernardin Categories: Buffy, Ooops! So, we made something of a boo-boo. An error. A lapse in judgment. A brain fart. And more than 50, 100, 200, make that 300 of you took the time to let us know, in a thoughtful and measured manner. (And by "thoughtful" and "measured," I mean "loud" and "angry.") Yes, we left Buffy Summers and Sydney Bristow off our 22 Butt-Kicking Babes List. Trust me when I say that it was not intentional, at all. My love for Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a matter of record. It pains me to realize that, in updating this gallery, I left off the Butt-Kicking-est Babe of All. As for Sydney Bristow, I must admit that I'm not the biggest Alias fan. (In fact, I much prefer the Marvel comic book Alias to the show. But that's just me.) Still, that's no reason for exclusion so, in short order, we just updated that gallery to correct our oversight. This is a testament to you, dear readers. Whether you think we do or not, we listen. To everything you say." http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2007...ickers-a-.html Here's the ammedment: "Butt-Kicking Babes: New and Improved! SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR as Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) WHO IS SHE? The one girl in all the world who can stand against the demon hordes. The chosen one. And, when she's not laying down the slayage, she's stumbling her way through grownup-ness. SKILLS Wicked with a stake, Buffy's a gifted martial artist, stronger than the average bear, and a world-class shopper. BATTLE GEAR Jeans, leather jacket, and an attitude she wears like armor. MALE ADMIRER The great love of her life was Angel (David Boreanaz), the vampire-with-a-soul she was ultimately forbidden to love. (Stupid gypsy curses.) Then she took up with Riley Finn (Marc Blucas), he of the paramilitary hotness. And last we saw her, she had Spike (James Marsters) wrapped around her finger. CAN'T GET ENOUGH? By all means, dodge Scooby-Doo as if your life depended on it. Check out Gellar in The Grudge and, for some real kink, she plays a porn star in Richard Kelly's upcoming sci-fi fantasia, Southland Tales." http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20152680_23,00.html While checking this out I noticed a sidebar for the "Top 11 Vampires Of All Time". Guess who Number 9 was? ![]() "ANGEL/ANGELUS (David Boreanaz) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997-2003) and Angel (1999-2004) The vampire with a soul. For most of high school and a decent chunk of college, Angel was the demon that haunted the Slayer. Tall, dark, and handsome, he's the prototypical bad-boy-boyfriend, until he experiences a moment of true happiness; then he's your worst nightmare. So, yeah, don't give it up on ANY date. FAVORITE PREY: Buffy Summers. Or pre-packaged bags of plasma. When he's being a good boy." http://www.ew.com/ew/gallery/0,,20153015_8,00.html Last edited by ohiofan; 10-19-2007 at 03:38 AM.. |

| Junior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | lol i was reading about that yesterday on Google News. heres what they had to put about the matter Entertainment Weekly does lists all the time, and one of their latest is entitled “22 Butt-Kicking Babes”. The list counts down, in order, the top 22 bad ass women of all-time in film and television. The point of these lists is to incite discussion, which I understand, but I think that any TV fan is going to have some major qualms with some of the women put on the list and some who were left off. Chuck's Yvonne Strahovski just barely made the list, pulling in at number 22 for her portrayal of CIA agent Sarah Walker. Michelle Ryan hit up the list at number 15 as NBC's new Bionic Woman. Shouldn't those two be given, I don't know, a full season before we anoint them two of the most “butt-kicking” women of all-time? Aren't they jumping the gun a little bit? Other recent TV females to make the list were Ali Larter for her work on Heroes (#20), Evangeline Lilly as Kate on Lost (#15), Summer Glau in Firefly and Serenity (#10), and Katee Sackhoff as Starbuck on Battlestar Galactica (#4). Sackhoff and Lilly are both great and, yes, bad ass. I can't argue with their inclusions. Glau is a fan boy favorite and I'll have to go along with it, despite never having seen Firefly myself. Ali Larter is Ali Larter, and I'm not going to complain about that. The number one selection was, or course, Sigourney Weaver for her work as Ripley in the Alien franchise. She always gets the top spot for anything involving bad ass women, as she probably should. For me, there were two massively egregious omissions on this list, and I think any real TV fan can agree with me. Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Jennifer Garner as Sidney Bristow on Alias were nowhere to be found. Placing Michelle Ryan and Yvonne Strahovski on this list over Gellar and Garner is blasphemous. Not only are Buffy and Sidney more “butt-kicking”, they did it for multiple seasons. Bionic Woman and Chuck have been on the air for four episodes each. What was Entertainment Weekly thinking? |

We all know who #1 is! By the way - I have a Pieceworks trading card that has a small circle of the leather pants Sarah's wearing in the scene above. I also have one with a piece of the jacket she wore in "Something Blue". |

With one exception: there was a dual item card from the 10th Anniversary collection priced at $400: a bit pricey. So I'm watching EBay for it; I did get 3 of my other Buffy cards there: priced at around $260 total, I got them for $150. Still a little embarrassing. I also have Pieceworks cards for some of the others, including both Angel's AND Spike's leather coats - Spike's is autographed (Spuffys: bidding starts at $400). Those I got in card boxes. I spend my hard-earned cash on Sarah only. Hope she appreciates that. |

It's nice to have things associated with the show and Sarah in particular to give a sense of connection. Don't worry, Andy. You have to remember that Ed and I are old farts ( I'm the older fart!) and we have to spend out ill gotten gains on something! |
