The American actress has made millions starring in movies like The Grudge but was raised by a single mum on a tight budget. She got into acting when she was just four years old. "It started as more of a finance thing. My mom thought, wow, maybe we can bring in some money," she said. "My mom and I had to figure things out. There was nobody else. "If we wanted to buy a television, we carried it home. If we wanted to hang a picture, we did it. "It was a great lesson that made me incredibly self-sufficient." Gellar has clearly inherited her mum's money-saving ways. For the first season of Buffy, she drove to and from the set in her Chrysler. "You hear about people who come out to LA, get their first pilot and get the Porsches and the this and the that, but I just couldn't do it." And Gellar travels for free in her hometown of New York - on a bright pink bicycle, which has streamers and Hello Kitty tyres. "Every time I leave my apartment, my doorman just shakes his head," she laughs. Gellar makes the revelations in an interview in the October issue of US Self magazine. Featuring on the front cover, inside she shares details of her relationship with husband Freddie Prinze Jnr. The couple met on the set of 1997 thriller I Know What You Did Last Summer, but didn't start dating until 2000. They later worked together on the Scooby Doo films in Australia, which Gellar says was great fun, but adds: "There's a lot to be said for missing your partner, for that run into each other, because you're so excited to see each other." The couple have also taken up tennis, after they saw professional player Andy Roddick hit the courts during a holiday last Christmas. "I was watching him play and thought, Wow, that looks like fun. Freddie has started playing, too. "He's a lot better than me, and it's making me really mad. "I'm competitive with my husband because it's funny, but I'm more competitive with myself. "If I do something I want to do it better next time to prove to myself that I can," she says. Exercise and eating well is what keeps Gellar so trim. "I'll pretty much eat anything," she says. "I really love sushi and I love when you go to a bistro and you take the crispy French fries and dump them in the mussels with white wine sauce." And despite her success, Gellar has kept herself grounded by surrounding herself with old friends and family. "Acting is a lonely business sometimes," she says. "You don't always know who to trust. I've been really fortunate. I've had my family. I've had the same friends. You look in our apartment and the pictures on the mantel from last week are the same people from when I was five years old." It's her down-to-earth attitude and hard working ethic, which has made her one of America's biggest stars. "Ambition and drive are what get you the extra mile," she says. "It's motivation to go after something you want, to be confident enough. "Confidence gets mistaken a lot of times for inflated ego. "If you want something in life, it's a short time we're here. "You go and get it and you do what makes you happy." http://nz.entertainment.yahoo.com/070918/6/1pyv.html |

There was a video from Splash of the shoot that was floating around if that's what you mean (where she's on the bike, in the resturant, with her hairdresser, etc) | |
