HAPPY (BELATED) ANNIVERSARY, BUFFY

Yesterday, March 10th, was the Tenth Anniversary of the first US broadcast of the premiere episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer (Welcome to the Hellmouth, followed by The Harvest): the greatest television show in the history of mankind. Having missed the date, you - and I - are all sentenced to do penance; repeat after me: "Buffy is awesome; I am not worthy; Buffy is awesome; I am not worthy; Buffy is awesome;..." Repeat this 144 times and perhaps Saint Buffy will bless us with her forgiveness.

Ashamed that I missed it cos I read about 2 weeks ago that it was coming up.

I discovered "Buffy" when it was out on DVD. As one of the older posters here I can relate to you that after many years of feeling nothing inside (too many years in the military, police and medical fields) I felt a reawakening of real emotions as I watched the Homeric Tale of Buffy and her friends unfold before me on the tv screen. I really felt like I was there in Sunnydale and a part of the Scoobies. This was due to Joss and the amazing cast and crew. I fell in love with Sarah and have never seen anyone who can match her depth and scope as an actress. She makes you care about her character and that is the truest measure of any performer.

Thank goodness Joss had the vision and Sarah had the gumption to keep trying out for the part of Buffy - or we would have missed out on a great deal these past years. Happy Anniversary!!!!

St. Buffy may forgive me as I was working on wallies yesterday. I'm marking this on my new calendar and it won't happen again!

i remember hearing about buffy back when it started and hated the fact that the local cable company didn't carry the WB. By the time the area got the WB, the 5th season had ended and it was rerunning the last episodes of the season. Of course season 6 was going to start on UPN and guess what we didn't carry UPN. GRRRRRR ARRRRGH. so i only had angel to watch. upn finally showed up but not as a cable channel only as a regular station that you could get with cable off. it was so blurry it was not worth watching. 3 months later upn moved to cable and i finally got to watch buffy. but i felt like i was so late into the game. of course with dvd i went and picked up every one of them. it also helped that at target they had several of the seasons for $15 each. made it easy to catch up. did the same thing with angel since i missed the first 3 seasons. i'll never forget those times.

but in case some of you don't know buffy season 8 comes out this wednesday at your local comic book store. here's a little spoiler that i'm sure some of you already know. but remember when angel and spike were looking for buffy and they saw this blonde girl dancing with the being called the immortal. well it turns out she was just a decoy and not buffy. it was andrews plan and he found it hilarious. if you want to find out why there was decoy pick up the new comic this wednesday. although it might have already been released early in several places, in the usa though.

When I first heard they were making a TV show based on that lousy movie of the same name, I thought it proof of the rampant use of drugs in Hollywood. Then they announced the cast. I'd been a fan of Sarah's since Swans Crossing, so, putting aside my doubts concerning the subject matter, I tuned in. And was blown away. As were we all. Whether you were in at the beginning or came upon this treasure later, here we all are - 10 years later! - still enjoying this phenomenal program. Fantastic! VIVA BUFFY!!

Funny thing was I rememebr Sarah talking about Buffy in her interview with jules Asner. She said that people kept telling her '' don't worry, you'll get something next year''. lol. She also rememebered telling Keifer Sutherland about that, he basically said the same thing. Funny thing was Sarah bumped into him on the Fox filming lot when he started doing 24. He admitted to Sarah he'd got it wrong

Plus it's never too late to be a fan of Buffy!

Ps. thanks for the info about the comic being out to buy rlm.

Unfortunately, the comic has been postponed from its original release date ( March 7). Haven't heard of a new date. Just gonna have to keep hitting my fave comic shop every Wednesday.

The date I have heard is March 14th - today infact. Thats a US date but I'm gonna go check my local comic book place tomorrow cos Forbidden Planet says March 15th and thats hopefully UK - if not, I can always ask the shop guy lol. It's gonna be great!

I need to check out when Buffy first aired over here in UK cos I saw it from episode 1 on BBC - that'll be my own 10th marker - such a weird thought lol.

Keith Topping put out a guide to BVS called THE COMPLETE SLAYER with both US and UK airdates included: Highly Recommended. Sky One first broadcast BVS on 3 JAN 98.
