COMIC SEASON 8 SECTION **Thank you so much to ColdBloodedJellyDonut for your help!!!** Q. When is the release date for the Season 8 Comics? A. Well heres what we know so far: US: Supposed to be the 7th but really is March 14th. UK: Supposed to be the 8th but pushed back until the 15th. Q. Where can I PHYSICALLY buy the comic? A.I can only say I know for sure in the US you can buy it at any comic book store, if they don't have it in stock most places allow you to order it and they will call you when it gets in. Most likely the will have it. Or you can buy it online, the sites where you can do that are listed below. The alternative is to search the comics out at Dark Horse and use their retailer locater. Q. How many issues will there be? A. It was originally planned to be between 20-30 issues, one source said 26 exactly but it's not verified. However, Joss has since stated that it might be "well over 30", exact number is unknown. Here's what season 8 Looks like so far: Issue #1: "The Long Way Home, Part 1" by Joss Whedon Issue #2: "The Long Way Home, Part 2" by Joss Whedon Issue #3: "The Long Way Home, Part 3" by Joss Whedon Issue #4: "The Long Way Home, Part 4" by Joss Whedon Issue #5: (standalone issue) by Joss Whedon Issue #6: (first issue of an untitled Faith arc) by Brian K. Vaughan Issue #7: (second issue of an untitled Faith arc) by Brian K. Vaughan Issue #8: (third issue of an untitled Faith arc) by Brian K. Vaughan Issue #9: (fourth issue of an untitled Faith arc) by Brian K. Vaughan Issue #10: (standalone issue) by Joss Whedon Issue #11: (first issue of an untitled Tokyo arc) by Drew Goddard Issue #12: (second issue of an untitled Tokyo arc) by Drew Goddard Issue #13: (third issue of an untitled Tokyo arc) by Drew Goddard Issue #14: (fourth issue of an untitled Tokyo arc) by Drew Goddard Q. Are they ever going to be released as a Graphic Novel? A. Official word from Darkhorse is YES, after all is said and done and the season is completed it will be released as a GN. However, there is also talk of arcs as Graphic Novels so after the first five Joss Whedon installments of the arc there may or may not be a GN with those five issues.. We shall have to wait and see. Q. What are the arcs going to look like? A.Okay nerds this is how its looking so far: There are going to be several 4 issue arcs and a few standalone issues as well. First Arc- The Long Way Home written by Joss. Issue One: will feature Buffy, Dawn and Xander. Issue Two or Three: Will feature Giles. Issue Three: Will focus on magic and will have a battle royale between Willow and Amy. Amy has formed an army of the undead. Issue Five: Will be the first standalone issue. Written by Joss and is very close to his heart. No leaks will be given about this sure to be sappy one. Second Arc- Currently being written by Brian Vaughn and will be Faith-centric in nature. Third Arc- being written by Doug Petrie and will be set in Tokyo. Will feature a very popular villain from the show. Special Arc- Apparently Joss has another arc in the works that will make Joss fans Lose their minds per Brian Vaughn. Q. What characters are going to be featured? A. *Anya will be appearing, but will not be resurrected. *Angel and Spike will appear, but sparingly. Contrary to what is often said, Joss IS legally allowed to use them as much as he wants, but he's decided not to so as to not impact what the company that owns Angel and Spike can do with them. *At least two new slayers will be featured characters, one is named Leah and Roweena. *Xander, Willow, Dawn, Giles, Buffy obviously *Faith is going to have her own arc *Amy is back as a baddie... there is talk of a possibility of her being the "big bad" but that is just fanon at this point. *Word is Ethan Rayne will be making a "cameo" *Andrew will be involved Q. Who is going to be writing the series? A. Joss- will also concluding the season as well as overseeing the entire project. Jane Espenson-said she hopes to do some comedic standalones but will do whatever Joss asks of her. Drew Goddard,Drew Greenberg and Steven DeKnight. There are also comic world writers lined up, including Brain Vaughn Q. Where can I order the series issues offline? www.forbidden planet.com www.abstract sprocket.com http://www.ebay.com **HERE BE SPOILERS: IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW DONT KEEP READING!!** *It's set at least a year and a half after Chosen but the exact timing is unknown. *The entire series should last approximately 3 years but that obviously depends on the number of issues that get released and delays, which are apparently very common in the joyous world of comics. *The first 3 covers and issue 1 previews are available on the internet, I recommend looking through www.whedon.info, they also have a couple of alternate covers. *None of the show's cast have contacted Joss about it, and he doesn't think any of them actually know about it. Random trivia note, but it might be interesting. *Minor spoilers are: -A big bad from the show will be the big bad in the comic (maybe the one from the Tokyo arc) -Dawn is now a giant thanks to losing her virginity to a Thricewice. -Someone is stabbed - I think in the heart - in the first arc (most likely Buffy) -Buffy leads five hundred Slayers separated into ten squads, all of which are viewed by the U.S. government as terrorist cells in the wake of Sunnydale's destruction. -For Buffy's protection, two Slayer lookalikes are in place - one in Italy, one literally underground (I think that means dead but I am not sure) -Buffy is not dating The Immortal as "The Girl in Question" had stated. This is in fact a ruse set up by Andrew Wells using lookalikes, and partially as a prank on Angel and Spike. -Xander leads "central command" which is in Scotland. -Dawn experiences "growing pains" of "ginormic proportions" as a byproduct of losing her virginity. Whedon also makes mention of a "Giant Dawn". -Anya will definitely reappear although she will not be resurrected. Whedon describes it as being "all about Anya"[7] with a possibility of an appearance by bunnies. -Amy Madison is set to return in issue #2. -Whedon plans for all the popular characters to return,although the cast will be slowly introduced as it makes sense to do so. -The season's Big Bad is set to be a returning cast member. -Faith will appear in the second arc, written by Brian K. Vaughan. -Riley Finn and his wife may show up but nothing is set right now as the writers of the comic are going to start with the core characters. -The demons will apparently "look cooler" without budgetary restraints, but "not as cool as Skip."
