Sarah: Everyone loves to go to a movie and be scared. the scariest things are the ones that could actually happen, like some of the things in The Grudge Those are the moments that frighten you to the core. Q: Did you enjoy being a scream queen? S: A lot of times [in movies], you get relegated to the girlfriend, the sister - but [horror] is where women can really shine. Q: Aren't there lots of strange customs on the sets of Japanese films? S: there's something womderful about everyone paying their respects on set by taking their shoes off. Also, there's no food. One morning I walked in and I was eating. I looked up and everyone was staring at me. I quickly rushed off and dumped my breakfast into the nearest garbage bin. I wanted to respect their ways. Q: There's a creepy scene where a ghostly hand appears in your hair while you're in the shower - was that difficult to film? S: American films use so much CGI that when you see that hand in the shower you assume it's done by computer. But everything [Japanese film-makers] do is real. There was another woman in the shower sticking her hand in my hair! Q: And isn't Japanese food a horror story in itself? S: I love Japanses food - my favourite is blowfish sushi. It's poisonous so you have to slice it very carefully. But you wanna slice it just enough so you get a little bit of poison and your mouth gets all tingly. It's delicious! Sorry it's so short :( [ October 06, 2005, 01:50 PM: Message edited by: andrew r ] |
