Phelps & Lohan: Hollywood's New Love Connection?

He's got eight gold medals. She's making about $8 million per movie. Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?

Olympian-turned-overnight celebrity Michael Phelps revealed to Access Hollywood a few weeks ago in Athens that he had a Hollywood-sized crush on teen queen Lindsay Lohan.

"Lindsay Lohan is pretty hot," Michael told our Nancy O'Dell. "She's real cute. There are a few stars out there, but she's probably the cutest one."

And of course, it was our civic duty to deliver this news to Lindsay first-hand. So what did the actress have to when she heard about her potential Olympic suitor?

"That was really cool and it was ironic because everyone that day was like, 'Oh did you hear?' because everyone was telling me and I didn't know but it was really cool," Lindsay said. "That's really sweet of him."

"Would you want to meet Phelps?" Billy Bush asked Lindsay.

"Sure, yeah. Definitely," she replied.

And just because it makes us feel good to bring people together, we stoked the fire a little bit with Michael on Tuesday. But did our hunky swimming sensation shy away from the lure of love once he knew his crush had been revealed? Hardly.

"Tell her I said, 'hello' and hopefully we'll be able to meet sometime in the near future," Phelps said.

But alas, we do have some sad news for Michael. When and if a meeting ever does happen, there will likely be no love connection. And Michael can blame that on one man -- Lindsay's boyfriend, Wilmer Valderrama.

"Wilmer would be present [at the meeting] I would assume?" Billy checked with Lindsay.

"Of course. I'm sure he wants to meet him too," Lohan answered.

Oh well. We're pretty sure that Michael isn't too broken up about the whole thing. After all, Disney is keeping his busy touring the country to promote swimming. And, don't forget, he's always got those eight medals, which certainly counts for something when it comes to the ladies.

"You get a lot of attention," a humble Phelps noted. "It's funny, I was about to get in the water and you hear all the girls yelling and screaming and some of them are saying, 'I love you'...it's a much different environment than I'm used to."

I'd rather she stuck with Wilmer!!

I don't know .. I think Wilmer is kinda ugly but obviously I'm wrong since he's gotten around [Mandy Moore, J. Love Hewitt] but since I adore Phelps I'd rather she not go outt with him !!!!!!!
