Be My Baby - Thoughts?

I just watched Be My Baby. Quite simply it was a pretty boring movie that wasn't very funny. As usual Lacey is hardly in it but to the movie's credit Lacey was very cute in her role and was kinda funny (but that's cuz I'm biased).

Didn't really care much about any of the characters and so was a forgettable film. Good to see Lacey and Tara Mercurio become good friends from this though. Any one else like to share their thoughts if they've seen it?

It takes money to make a film, so it's natural to assume true fans would PAY to view the films. If you don't wish to BUY the films you wish you see, you can RENT them. Rentals don't cost that much...

The sad fact that "fans" will now brazenly admit to freebie downloads, then excuse themselves by referring to things like "high prices" or "art should be free," only show that they, and their societies, have lost their moral compass.

In this case, what you've done, luv_monkey (and all others who do or did this) are stealing from everyone involved withthe film - including Chabert. Sure, she was paid and lost no cash directly from yoru actions. However, think long-term. If a film doesn't perform well enough via the business side, everyone involved (from actors all the way up to the executives) lose out for future projects. In short, through your lack of understanding and integrity, they ALL (Chabert among them)...lose out on what can make them achieve their dreams (and through them, your desires to see more of your favorite actors).

You have no right to steal product in this way, any more than you do when visiting a store to do the same thing. It hurts everyone...including (eventually) Chabert.

Earlier this year, during a short video interview, Chabert made it known she has a goal to enter the production side of the Industry. When she does this, what will you do with the films she puts out? The same thing?

So, do tell me, luv_monkey (and anyone else who thinks this is their right)...why do you do this? Do you WANT her to fail? Are you TRYING to destroy her career?

Oh, sure, you are just one person. What harm can YOU do. Alone? None... But think, pal. How many others do YOU know do the same thing with films, music, et al? Then do a short study of the stats for illegal torrent downloads. Add it up. Even by being even ONE of those folks, you are directly responsible for any losses to Chabert's efforts.

Do you really think she'd THANK you for being "fan" enough to steal from her?

I've noted too many "fans" admit to downloading her films rather than purchasing or renting them. And they really consider themselves fans - that boggles my mind.

Don't give the the old "try before we buy" line. That's fallacy and you know it. For example, how many "downloads" did you like that you actually turned into an outright purchase? No, really - answer that question, will ya? If the percentage doesn't add up to 100, you're not a fan - you're a thief.

obviously you don't know us lacey fans very well do you. we are huge lacey fans that we must have the movie now to see it and when the movie comes out we also buy it too. we all know we're going to buy it. c'mon the dvd is a whole better quality than a downloadable one. but we're such huge fans we need the movie now so we can see it over and over and over again. i downloaded the pleasure drivers way before it ever came out on dvd and i'm sure many of us here too. and when it finally arrived on dvd i like everyone else here went out and got it too.

on video rentals, lets see rent and rip, happens a lot. if it's a lacey movie, i don't rent i buy. same thing with jennifer love hewitt or any movie i just want to see and own. as for indie films there are many that never make to where some of us live. so what do we do we either order them or just download if we can't find it for sell anywhere.

lets see when lacey does start producing her own movies many of us will go to see them. will also download them and then once they're made finally avialiable on whatever dvd format we have we'll buy it. we just want our lacey, no matter what.

i don't know about everyone else but i do download a lot of free stuff. like leaked movies and cds. i've been doing it forever. but i still go and buy the stuff. you obviously don't really know us all. i downloaded spider man3 (awful movie) the day before i went to see it in the theaters, i still wanted the theatrical experiance. will i be buying the movie on dvd...yes. even if it was bad i must get it to go with parts 1 and 2. as for cds, i've had many of my favorite bands albums way before they were officially released. why because i'm a fan of them. once their cd does come out i'll go and buy the real deal. better quality you know. and i support the bands too by going and seeing them in concert, since that's where they really make most of their money from. studios get a lot of their moolah you know. i think the only thing i've ever tried before i buy have been video games. i never try before i buy on anything else. yes i download because i'm a fan and must have the music or movie because i love the stuff and i also buy it because i'm a fan. sometimes i laugh at myself because i'll be going through all my stuff and see a downloaded movie of the pleasure drivers and look up in my dvd stash and see the real one there too. i'll look at my mp3 downloads of death cab for cutie cds and linkin park cds and metallica cds and then over at my real cd stash and see the real ones there too. so you really don't know me or anyone else here well enough to accuse us of everything you ranted on about.

look buddy I'm not going to say what I did was justified and all that bull but seriously who are you to be so harsh about all of this? Can you honestly tell me that you've never downloaded a mp3 music track dishonestly?

Another thing I'd like to know is...where in my post in this thread did I mention that I will not buy this movie on DVD? go on show me. I do try to support Lacey as much as I can, I just bought "The Brook Ellison Story" on dvd 2 weeks ago...never seen it before, but I bought it anyway. Black Christmas...never came out here in Australia and only saw it after I downloaded it and I'll be buying the film on HD DVD soon. But you know what? there's no point in 'proving myself' to you because it's obvious you've already blatantly labelled me among other members on this board as thieves.

rlm made a good point about us being fans who just want to get our Lacey fix. Take a look at the movie "hello sister, goodbye life". It was only aired in America with no DVD release whatsoever. How can I watch this movie the legit way if I'm all the way from Australia? I actually loved the movie and would buy the official DVD if it existed. If you have a link to where I can buy the DVD, please I'd love to know where I can get it.

And if you really want to get technical about it all, how about all the pictures posted across all the forums on this site? All images here are copyrighted by their respectful agencies and photographers. By simply right clicking and saving that new photoshoot, aren't we all stealing? Why not go on a mighty rant on how all of us save and post images then?

I do understand what you're trying to say, however to rant in your first post accusing people and even insinuate we lack integrity is just plain ignorant. I try to steer clear of feeding trolls and the like but I had to rant on this one. Close the thread if you wish Shawn but I just couldn't sit here at work reading this crap and not reply.

i just seen BE MY BABY, the other day and i thought it was mediocre and not really funny. the only thing that was funny to me was the trailer. they credit her name first like if she was the star but only appears for like a total of 10 minutes, maybe even less than that. they also mis-pronounce her name too. all in all i was disappointed to say the least.

oh yeah anyone else wish they made the scene with her in that sexy school girl outfit longer. i think that would've saved it for me.
