well black christmas has been released as of midnight. i went to the nearby walmart and they were barely putting them out, but they were way too much there. i decided to just go and get it in the morning when the nearby target opens. seems it'll be lower there but only reasons i'm getting it for are lacey and michelle. i'm hoping the dvd comes packed with extras. anyone else getting the dvd?

I'm holding out for the HD-DVD, bought the 360 HD player on the weekend. Getting it for Lacey and Mary Elizabeth Winstead :p

btw could you gives us a headsup if Lacey is in any of the special features? cheers

oh my god why would you buy the 360 hd dvd player? that's like the worst piece of machinery ever created. the 360 is amazing but the hd dvd player isn't. it was given some very negative reviews by xbox magazine as well as other electronic mags out there. yes xbox magazine itself went against it's own. one of the main reasons is cuz no matter if you have the best hd tv the hd dvd player still puts out blurry images. to quote xbox mag "that's what you get for $200 dollars". i was almost thinking about buying it but after i saw the one my cousin bought, which he then returned cuz of the problems stated in xbox mag, i decided not to. i'm going to wait it out and see what comes out on top hd or blu ray.

now as for the hd dvd of black christmas i read it'll just be the same as the regular dvd with the same features.

i almost didn't get my copy at the target. i was planning on going when it opened by i decided to wait until later. so around 5pm i went. at the place where they have new dvds they had sold out but then i remembered that they have another area with new dvd releases towards their back wall and that where i found the last two copies. one was rated and the other was unrated widescreen. i took my unrated version and i still havent seen it. but i was upset that there weren't that many features on it. oh well you can't always get what you want.

the special features are as follows:

1. What have you done?: the remaking of black christmas.

2. May all your christmases be black: a filmaker's journey.

3. Deleted Scenes

4. 3 alternate endings.


not even a commentary track. you would expect something like a commentary track for the price it's going at at major retailers. $19.99. the cheapest i found it was at circuit city for $17.99. i think with tax it comes out for $19.46. not sure. i'm figuring the studio that made the movie just wants to make as much money off of the movie as it can since it didn't do well at the box office. i mean c'mon those after dark horror horrorfest movies that just came out on dvd are being sold at about $16.99 and they include more special features and they're not good movies. i've seen some of the after dark movies and black christmas is a lot more entertaining than those.

I don't know man I saw the Toshiba standalone player running and i couldn't tell the difference between that and the 360's HD player tbh. I'm happy with the purchase, movies look great on my lcd tv. Plus the saving of over $800 was great lol. Not sure what's so bad about it but I'm happy with my purchase (an impulse purchase rather hehe)

As for the HD DVD of black christmas, yes I think the features are the same but the movie is in high def so that's good enough for me really.

Ok so I FINALLY got Black Christmas on HD DVD yesterday, got home and popped the disc in. All I can say is WOW!

The picture quality is superb (better than most of my other HD DVD movies) and all the girls in the film look fantastic. The contrast between the bright christmas lights and the dark shadows make it look extra awesome. Lacey in high defnition two thumbs up ;)

now bring on Mean Girls in HD already!

I was only able to tolerate about 10 minutes of it before I gave up and looked for Lacey's scenes. I had seen what turned out to be a deleted scene (she opens a present) and she sounded Lacey-enough for me (as in, I could almost see one of her friends getting her a gag gift like that, and her reacting in that way), but all of her other scenes are snooty and bitchy. It's almost a blessing when she gets killed. Have to wonder about the other girls.... but not enough to waste 90 minutes of my life.

She was sitting down a lot. This was PROBABLY because she got injured on the first day of shooting. The trap door came down on her ankle and I've seen a clip of her walking on crutches with a cast on. Odd they'd shoot that first, but schedules of individuals probably required it.

I just looked at the trailer, and that DOES look like Lacey being dragged by Christmas lights into some big rotating thing. (Never seen a wood chipper that looked like that, though.)

yep lacey's scenes were changed. for some odd reason many the deaths scenes were shot differently by what i read. lacey's death was much more brutal and what i read is that she gets tangled in christmas lights while trying to escape. the lights are then thrown into the wood chipper by the killer and the machine is turned on. the lights are wrapped up around lacey they start to drag her into the chipper and well i don't think anyone wants to know what happens next to her.

it is possible the death might have been altered cuz of lacey's injury.

No, I don't think so. I'm pretty sure she said that she was injured on the first scene she shot. I recall her saying in an interview (Kilborn?) that she was snorting out mud for a couple days after shooting, and after watching that part of the movie, I couldn't see how that was possible, but when you count that cut scene, now I can see what she meant.

(From the interview, I expected to see actual crawling around in the mud in a chase for a while, so I was surprised at how quickly the scene was over.)
