| You know, as I'm watching the MTV Movie Awards, with Lindsay Lohan hosting, I'm wondering what will it take for Lacey to ever be an A-list actress? From what I've read, she's very content in the skin she's in right now and it doesn't seem to bother her. But from a fan's perspective, it just doesn't seem right. How come at say 15 or 16, she wasn't as popular as say the Olsen Twins and Hilary Duff were at 15 or 16. Was it bad timing, bad luck, whatever? Sure, she has been on every late night TV Talk show except for Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Kimmel, but then again, you need to be on those shows to promote yourself. It seems with every acting role she's been in the last couple of years, she's always in a second-tier supporting role. Yes, I know her Mean Girls character was very developed and she got maybe even more face time than she ever did in a single PO5 episode, even during her hotter phase. I understand that she has been offered a ton of scripts that would have given her more exposure. But some of us are tried of seeing her as the "bridesmaid" and for once want to see her as the "bride." I also think if she ever does another TV show, she should be involved in the development and production process, especially since she is very conscientious of her craft. But at least she still gets more exposure than some actors and actresses currently on TV shows who don't get that much attention. So I'll say even that is an accomplishment. Your thoughts please? |

| yeah...plus, she's getting there. She's gained a lot of popularity in the past year or so...I think it's only a matter of time. Plus, it doesn't seem like she cares all that much, because from what I understand she turns down a lot of bigger roles for independent movies such as The Scoundrel's Wife. If you notice when she's on the talk shows, she always seems nervous and uncomfortable...maybe she just isn't interested in being in the limelight. |

| Member ![]() ![]() | I don't know what you're talking about when you say she's nervous. It's probably just a perspective thing between us. She seems to pretty outgoing to me. As for the TOPIC, I think she turns down those major roles to persue more challenging and/or meaningful roles. I think she knows if she takes on too many "teen" roles, she'll get type-cast as such and be forever relegated to the land of "child star." I would imagine the only movies willing to take her on as a more mature actress are independent films like Hometown Legend or Homefront. Once she does enough indie films and her movies start catching on more, she'll be offered better roles. That, and her desire to get a degree (and who knows what else) will probably all contribute to her delay as a major pop idol. Not that I'm complaining though, I doubt she's fake enough to become top-tier hollywood material. I think she's right on track to becoming a serious actress as an adult. |

I definitely respect her intentions of handling her career with care and good judgment. But at the same time, as a fan I can't help overlook the fact that she is so underrated, and I know maybe I'm working myself up too much. For instance, when I saw JLH on the season finale of American Idol the first thing that came out of my mouth was "I want my Lacey!" (to the tune of MTV's old "I Want MY MTV!" slogan). Some of us are just sick and tired of hearing about the trials and tribulations of Hollywood's A-list, and I'm one of theme. It seems like every day I'm being force fed something about J-Lo or (insert name here). Hearing about lesser knowns is somewhat of a welcome change to me. And all I can say to Lacey is, do another TV show, and to try to lighten up a little on the talk show circuit. Now I've got writer's block, so I'm gonna scram. :D | |
