Kristin not coming back to Smallville

We're reeling from some big Smallville news that TV Guide's Michael Ausiello shared recently: While the show will be coming back for an eighth season, some major players won't be regular cast members!

Ausiello says that both Michael Rosenbaum and Kristin Kreuk have told producers they don't intend to return to the show as series regulars next season. Neither actor has ruled out guest spots or limited engagements, so we may get a little Lex and/or Lana love next season, but that's still being worked out.

I heard about this earlier today. I'm pretty bummed out :( Not just because Kristin will not be back on a regular basis but also because I'll miss Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor.

this is sad news. but they both had said this even before the current season went on the air. they'll probably make guest appearances during sweeps.

the most recent news from kryptonsite is that only tom welling, john glover, erica durance, and laura vandervoort have been signed onto season 8.

the cw is negotiating contract signings with both allison mack and michael rosenbaum. both of the contracts end after the 7th season. here's hoping that allison comes back, otherwise she could be the regular cast member who is actually getting killed off in the april 17 episode. yes someone is really going to die and this is no bull like what we got at the end of last season. no cloning involved either. someone is actually going to die. some believe it was going to be john glover but since he's already signed onto the 8th season, it's obviously not him. michael rosenbaum might be back in a very small part.

the cw managed to convince kristin Kreuk into coming back for at least some part of the 8th season.

I don't know, they should just end the show now. They were saying how they just wanted 5 seasons or whatever. The show is pretty boring now, I've only watched maybe one or two full episodes this season. I don't feel like I'm missing anything anymore if I miss an episode.

Its really the right choice for her, she needs to move on to something else. I always liked her on the show but the writers are making her part terrible, you just cant like her character anymore.

I'd love to see her on a completely different tv show where she's able to branch out and show a lot more character as opposed to simply being clarks love interest. I think the show has really hindered her as an actress as the writers never really gave her much to work with - she was either supposed to be all happy and smiley and in love with clark, or upset and awkward towards him. Way too much focus on clark on that show (for obvious reasons), along with bad story telling and writing.

They had such a good concept and they (writers, directors etc) some how managed to make it seem like a chore to watch the show.

If she does leave the show, all the better as i'll finally have no interest at all in watching it. Hopefully she moves on to better things.

exactly how I feel, plus if Lex isnt on the show that will be a big blow.

The writers are messing up small ville as a whole, not just Kristin. I find myself not watching it that much anymore, because its become quite boring. Kristin's character wasn't well done these past two seasons, and the same iterations of the plot isn't that intriguing to watch. I don't blame her if she wants to move on to new and better things. She might find another acting job that'll boost her career.

there isn't much left for the character of lana. the last two episodes have shown that she really isn't needed there anymore. the only good thing that can come out of kristin leaving is that she finally can move on to bigger and better things. although i don't think street fighter is going to cut it. but i'll still watch it just for her alone. i hope she gets some great fight scenes in it.

So what happened to Lana's character? Last thing I remember was she faked her death and was hiding somewhere in Asia. What happened after that?

She came back to Smallville & Brainiac infected her which put her in a catatonic state. After Clark destroys Brainiac she wakes up & leaves Smallville leaving Clark a video saying that if she stays around he will never fully accept his true destiny cause of how much he loves her & still wants to be with her.

Season 7 Episode 15 aka "Veritas" is when Brainiac attacks Lana & puts her into a catatonic state.

Season 7 Episode 20 aka "Arctic"(also the Season Finale) is when she comes out of her catatonic state & leaves Smallville for good.

Wait, then how did they get rid of Lex? Did they get rid of Lionel too? I didn't see John Glover in the credits in the first episode. I am so confused. The new season looks kind of stupid with random new people in the credits. Then again, the last season was pretty crappy too.
