The live-action feature based on Capcom's video game focuses on female fighter Chun-Li and her journey for justice. This marks the second time a film has been adapted from the famed gaming series, the first was the Jean Claude Van Damme-led 1994 effort in which Ming Na played the role of Chun-Li.

Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak from a Justin Marks script, the action feature starts filming in Thailand in March 2008.

Oh my God... I sure hope this is not true... Street Fighter has to be one of the worst movies ever made in the history of film. I thought that even when I was young. Then I saw part of it a couple months ago or something and I felt like throwing up at the thought that I made my dad pay $6 for my ticket for that movie. Did you know that Kylie Minogue is in it? Well, she's probably the only reason to watch it. I guess it's one of those movies where if you're really bored, you watch it just to laugh at how stupid it is. Kind of like Robocop 3.

it looks like this is true. it's all over many of the movie websites. just google it up and you'll find them. i heard about the movie being made earlier this year and just didn't have any hope for it. the last one bombed cuz it was bad. it was packed with too many characters and the movie never really focused on any of them. it worked with mortal kombat cuz they stuck close to the story and they focused mainly on liu kang who was the main character. it didn't work on its sequel cuz they tried squeezing in as many characters, there was no actual story, except saving the world, and they concentrated on doing as many fight scenes as possible.
hopefully they concentrate on one character, chun li, if it is about her character. when they bring in the other characters a little of their backgrounds should be shown. i'll probably see it cuz it has kristin in it.

i'm not interested in the movie, but there's still a part of me that wants to see what kristin does with the role. how she'll play it off. but i have a feeling it'll be something like watching lana lang performing martial arts on a bunch of guys.

Huge fan of Street Fighter the game. Yes, the Van Damme movie sucked, as do most video game inspired movies. KK does resemble Chun Li IMO and would be a great pick although she'd need to bulk up her legs somehow to make it look more authentic. That said, my fanocity for KK has waned a lot over the past few years though. I think part of it maybe has to do with her agent not being all that good. I also suspect that Mr. H has a lot of influence on her as well and might have suggested she do this latest role of Chun Li, which she probably wouldn't have even thought of otherwise. Anyways, I wish her luck with this movie and may it help propel her career.

Also, I want to wish her a Happy 25th birthday!

This sounds cool. KK doesnt do a lot, and I usualy like what she does so at least this is something.

I also hated that first streetfighter movie, even much more then the mortal combat movie. Hopefully they do it good and they can. They have made some bad video game movies, like the two above, DOA, Doom, but there have been a few good ones. Resident Evil is pretty good. They might be able to do something similar to Electra, it would fit the game story and that movie want bad. And a kick ass KK sounds kinda hot.
