did they use some sort of blue screen to film this? because when lana was walking on the streets, the background seemed some how pasted in.

wish she had more screen time. so the question is how did she save herself from the car explosion.

yeah they used some kind of green screen. you can really tell. i'm sure her escape from the explosion will have something to do with that van that drove in front of the vehicle she was getting in right before it exploded. one thing i noticed that at the start of the episode that van that drove by wasn't shown.

Um. yeah. It was pretty obvious that was a green screen. Not to sound stuck up or anything, but come on, it was so fake. Do they ever not use a green screen when they are supposedly in another country? Why would they spend a whole bunch of money to fly a crew over to Shanghai to film a 10 second scene? That's probably the only scene that they'll have from China. Like I don't remember what season or what exactly happened since Smallville started to suck but when she went to Paris, that place wasn't Paris. She didn't stay in Paris for like more than 2 episodes. Of course they won't be in China. Silly child.

Sorry, I've been in a bad mood lately.

all of smallville is shot in canada. locations and sets.

pretty much all of it is filmed in canada, actually. i think they did some helicopter shots of nyc for metropolis but other than that it's all vancouver/burnaby. i believe paris was shot in gastown made to look like paris. i figured they would use chinatown for the shanghai scene like they did last time they did china but i guess they went even further than that to try and attempt it looking more believable when, instead, made it look worse.

I thought it was a very good first episode. I wish they would bring Lana back as a main character.

I was thinking Lana planned the car bomb herself to fake her own death and excape Lex because she knew he would never let her go.

you know theres not much going on with lana until episode 7 of this season where she acquires clark's powers. yes she ends up getting all of clark's powers and uses them recklessly. lex and clark take notice. kara is not in the episode so there's no lana vs. kara action. it wouldve been cool though.
