| I just got in from Vancouver. I was going to do a long post breaking down the whole thing but I changed my mind. Instead, I'd like, once again, to thank everyone that answered my questions. I had a very good time. It's a wonderful city and I met some really cool people. If anyone is planning a trip out there and would like to know about my visit, feel free to PM me. |

| I sure did. It was the cleanest and safest big city I've ever been to. Just all around pretty. Tons of things to do and you can find most anything you want there. But it doesn't feel crowded. Not the amount of people walking around or the automobile traffic. I liked that a lot. There sure is a lot of construction going on though. Must have seen a good 8 of those huge cranes. I hope it doesn't become a crowed city, but that being said, someday I will move there. Another thing I really appreciated was that I saw no jerks walking around trying to be tough or act like idiot thugs. People were either friendly or just going about their business. Are canadians just nicer than americans? I was in seattle for a little over a day and saw more a$$hole behavior than I did in five days in Vancouver (there was maybe one or two instances in Vancouver). |

| Member ![]() ![]() | glad to know you enjoyed your trip to vancity. next time you come you should go to whistler,bc. it's a ski resort in the winter but in the summer there's still lots of things to see and do especially if you're the outdoorsy type. there are clubs and bars too if you wanna go clubbing. it's soooo beautiful. i've been there twice and can't get enough of that place. it's a 2 hours drive from vancouver. in the summer it's cheap. accomodations are pretty much half price. the bus service is free during the summer as well. here are a couple of pics: don't mind the people in the picture. just focus on the view. LOL :D [ September 06, 2005, 01:47 PM: Message edited by: makulit ] |

| I wanted to go to whistler, but I couldn't fit it into my schedule. I'll definitely check it out next time. I probably could have gone more places if I had taken public transportation out there, but I just walked the entire time. I walked through just about everywhere downtown, stanley park, and from granville island out to UBC. The only place I took a bus to was Capilano. I think I got a good feel for the city by walking. I probably walked around about 10-12 hours a day. |

| My buddy and I made that drive up to Whistler and its all makulit said and more. Two huge alpine villages and many activities set up for summer. The gondolas were open for great views up the mountains whistler and blackcomb and although the snow was gone, you could see where all the ski trails are. In the village at the base of the mntns were dozens of people basking in the sun midday and enjoying the view at several outdoor restaurants. Its a beautifully developed resort, easily on a par or nicer than Vail and Aspen, Colo. But half the fun was the drive up there. When you turn north up #99 from west Vancouver, you begin ta see why BC is god's country. You pass along lion's bay, full of islands of lush green cedar and douglas firs. Then, we pulled off and saw shannon falls teeming into a ravine down the side of a mountain. Further up, the bay narrows into the cheakamus river, wide and turquoise with the awe inspiring tantalus range on the western side. This scenic drive provided two hours of the most stunning panoramic views I've ever seen. Sounds like you covered a lotta ground while you were there, reading. Its easier to see now why kk doesn't wanna leave, isn't it. |

| Member ![]() ![]() | whoa! you walked all the way to UBC? that's far. props for that. hey that's where i work. UBC is very nice although they have so much construction going on these days. JWoodstock..wow! you described the drive to whistler so well. i saw shannon falls for the 1st time when i went to whsitler last weekend. i can't wait for the pics to be developed. have you seen lost lake? it's gorgeous. we went there twice. 2st time was before sunset and there was a mist over the water and there were 2 ducks paddling close to shore. the view was breathtaking. i'll share some pics when they're ready. oh speaking of gondolas we saw a bear while riding on the gondola, coming down from the roundhouse lodge. unfortunately we were so excited pointing at the bear we didn't get to take a picture of it. what about you, GIN? do share some of your pics from your trip. oh and here are websites to check out for your next trip: Tourism Whistler Accomodations |

| thanks for the links, makulit. I'll bookmark them for now because I don't know when i'll be in vancouver next. Now, about the pictures...I bought a digi cam before i left NJ, the thing is it only came with a 16 mb memory card. So i only had about 20 pics. I just looked here and I only have five pictures of vancouver, heh. It's kind of fine with me since I tend not to take pictures of anything (I go with a "if I like it, I'll just try to enjoy it while i'm there" philosophy). Buuuttt, one of the people that I met there took a lot of pictures. So I kind of made her my personal vancouver photographer. :D She's going to send me some pics once she gets back home. So I'll post some then. |
