| we might finally have the chance to see if kristin was indeed in "Freaks and Geeks." http://www.freaksandgeeks.com/TalkTo...6E1200400482C8 The word is out... Posted on: January 13, 04 Posted by: LucyCarmichael nevermind From the Chicago Tribune ON DVD Thanks to fans, `Freaks' finally goes to DVD By Joshua Klein Special to the Tribune By now, there are almost as many TV shows on DVD as there are shows on TV. Even so, a few beloved shows have remained conspicuously unavailable, prime among them the peerless "Freaks and Geeks." Canceled after just 18 episodes, the show became a cult classic, revered in reruns on the Fox Family Channel and actively traded on video. Show creator Judd Apatow kept "Freaks and Geeks" lovers updated on the show's lingering Web site, but DVD prospects looked so dim he eventually encouraged fans to sign a petition for the show's release. "We couldn't get anyone to believe that the market was big enough to warrant ponying up what turned out to be over a million dollars in licensing for the music," Apatow says. "Everyone did the math at all the different companies, and no one thought it would pay off. So we just threw a petition up on our Web site -- we just never took it down -- and we figured if we got enough people to sign up, maybe they would do the math again." The gamble worked. "So far we have about 37,000 e-mail addresses on there," Apatow says. "I think that was the difference for Shout Factory." Shout Factory plans to release the complete series in April, and much to Apatow's pleasure, the episodes will be unaltered. "We couldn't be more excited that it's happening, but it's also happening with all the original music," Apatow says. "Most people would just pull all the music out, but that was the soul of the show. We literally didn't have to replace one song, and they had to call every artist and publisher and clear everything. We probably wouldn't have bothered to put it out with different music. I would have just thrown a couple of copies out there and let everyone make copies themselves, rather than some bastardized version of it." Apatow says fans can expect a special-edition package with an 80-page yearbook included, plus restored scenes that were edited when the series ran on Fox Family, and a few other surprises. "We did a commentary with the executives from DreamWorks and NBC," he says with a chuckle. "It was one of the executives from NBC who was always fighting for the show to survive, so one of the commentary tracks is all about the politics of why a show like this doesn't make it. "We were really honest with our fans at the beginning," Apatow says. "We told them that if they want to get this show, it's not going to be cheap. When "Freaks and Geeks" was on, 8 or 9 million people watched it every week, and who knows what percentage of them will be willing to buy it. It's still a show that was canceled. But we always made the show thinking it was meant for DVD. It was in our mind when we made it; they were all supposed to be little movies. So you hope people won't see it as some old TV show that there's no reason to own." [ January 15, 2004, 03:21 AM: Message edited by: tucker ] |

| Er... how does this topic explain whether Kristin was in this tv show or not? I even read the source, it dosn't say anything... Besides, for the people who weren't on the old forum (like, for instance, me), and don't even know why rumors speculate about Kristin being in show, could some background info 'bout this be written? Over and out. |

| yeah, yeah Vin, you're just saying that so you can have her for yourself :D . See, even though I don't care, I'm such a nice person (or, I have no life ), that I did a little bit of research on the subject. For all you people who have been talking about it, even on the old forum, here it is. If you look at her filmography, you'll see it says "freaks and geeks" - "pilot" (as a guest star). So there you have it Over and out. Ps. Don't forget to thank me |

| Kreukoholic ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | IMDB is a very unreliable source when it comes to specific things such as this...they take their information from other sites and anyone can submit anything, so basically it was rumoured that Kristin was in Freaks and Geeks somewhere and imdb picked it up and took it as the truth... :D ;) |
