| ONDON, England (UPI) -- 'Pride and Prejudice' star Keira Knightley has donated the gown she wore to the 2006 Academy Awards to raise money for the British charity Oxfam. The dress is on display in Oxfam`s London office and will go up on eBay for bids April 21, the BBC reported Friday. The auction is scheduled to end April 30. 'This is such an amazing dress and I am really pleased to be able to donate it to Oxfam,' Knightley said. The money raised by the auction will go toward Oxfam`s efforts to ease poverty in drought-stricken East Africa. 'I have seen the TV reports on the horrendous drought in East Africa and I know how desperate things have become, so I am happy to be able to do something to help,' Knightley added. |

| Keira Mod ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Though it's nice of her, I don't see why actresses bother to KEEP their dresses after wearing them once anyway. If they go out in public with the same dress on, they get hounded by the fashion police for wearing the same thing over again. If I were as famous and rich as Keira I'd always put my dresses up for charitable auctions right after I'm done with them. |

| Keira Mod ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Half the time celebrities are given those dresses. They don't have to pay a cent for them. Keira gets a lot of free stuff from various places. She says they just mail the packages to her agent and she gets them from there. Celebrites are so spoiled sometimes. |

| Keira Mod ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Lmao say that to desperate fanboys. I bet someone will pay three times what it's worth. But I really have no idea if she paid for it or not. She just says she gets a lot of stuff for free, including the dresses she wears to shows and stuff. Last edited by KeiraLover : 04-17-2006 at 11:59 AM. |

I agree that more celebs should do stuff like this. What's the point in having a dress hanging in your wardrobe for years that you're never going to wear again?
