| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Smoking is a personal choice. Recently, my grandfather quit smoking because his younger brother, my great uncle, also a smoker, passed away two months ago from lung cancer. It's easy for my grandpa to quit, but he usually gains a ton of weight afterward. |

| If you're out in public, that means you have the right to walk away to another place where they aren't smoking, assume your legs work, right? If it starts w/making people stop smoking in public, what's next? Back to prohibition days maybe? I'd say drinking's a lot more unsafe than smoking cigs. Maybe chubby people eating in public is something we don't want to see because it churns our stomachs or something. It's a slippery slope I just can't support going down, myself. |

| Exactly. The sweet part of being an American is having the right to destroy yourself should you so choose to. As long as you're not purposely trying to take others down w/you or preventing them from escaping your demise, who cares how you choose to lead your life. I wouldn't care if Jess smoked as long as she didn't do it our house or whatever. Luckily, that's not a problem w/her as far as we know. |
