Jessica Alba films in Edmonton

The Invisible Woman has appeared in Edmonton.

Actress Jessica Alba, who played Sue Storm in 2005’s Fantastic Four, is currently in Edmonton filming for Good Luck Chuck, a new romantic comedy due out later this year, according to the Internet Movie Database.

The film co-stars comedian Dane Cook, who plays a dentist who’s unlucky at love. His character, the titular Chuck, has a knack for breaking up with girls only to see them become engaged to the next guy they date. When he meets the girl of his dreams (Alba, who, in reality, probably holds that honour amongst many men), Chuck is determined to break the cycle and win her for himself.

Cook and Alba have some experienced local co-stars shooting scenes with them at Film Alberta Studio on the city’s south side – 15 African penguins from West Edmonton Mall.

“African penguins are considered a tropical species, which is why they’re so easily used in filming,” explains West Edmonton Mall spokesman Kimberly Evans. “The filmmakers couldn’t find them anywhere else.”

Alba, Cook and the penguins could not be reached for comment.

My wife's often said a lot of women go through that same thing so it's kinda ironic that they make the guy a stepping stone for a woman to find her "true love." She's always said how it'd annoy her when she'd spend a lot of time dating a guy and helping "straighten him out" so to speak and then, when he's pretty much there, they'd break up and he'd marry the next chick he went out w/so she basically reaps the benefits. Luckily, I was already solid when we met.

Seems kinda weird they made him a dentist. That's kind of an odd career choice for a guy "unlucky in love." You'd figure women'd be clamoring for a lower level doctor and all, lol.

that character was kind of a villain. so i don't think so.

i think this will havea 40 year old virgin feel to it. dane said its a rauchy R rated movie

Funny, though, in my experience it's always been that the nice person gets dumped and then their ex comes running back to them after they discover what's really out there. You hardly ever leave the nice guy for the guy you marry. There's must be something really wrong w/Dane's character. Maybe he's got tourette's or something, lol.

Yeah, but for that to work you need an ordinary Joe you can root for. I have no idea if Dane Cook's that type of guy since I know nothing about him. Based on the "Employee of the Month" poster I saw of him (he is in that isn't he? With J Simpson? I only glanced), he looked like an Affleck who aren't ordinary Joes in any sense of the word.

i am a ordinary Joe you can root for.

dane cook is just like any regular guy. he really doesn't have that hot thing thing that woman see in someone like a brad pitt.

and PS. don't diss on the Fleck!

Coulda fooled me. On his Insomniac tour comedy bit when he was talking about going down on girls all the women in the audience screamed real loud!!!

The poster I saw made him look a lot like Affleck like I said and at one time Ben was definitely running neck and neck w/Pitt for hottest dude around according to women I know. Tobey McGuire's an ordinary Joe because he's "dorky cute" so to speak according to women I've talked to about him (kinda like John Cusack). Just looking at Cook gives me the feeling he's more frat boy than that but again, I don't know the man or have seen his work, just going by the references you guys have made on him.
