| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I noticed in one of this set that their shopping cart was completely loaded. For all we know, they were both carrying tons of bags and it was Jess' turn to load up the last of it (the cart was empty then). I mean we don't know that Cash didn't help... what kind of person wouldn't help load a cart full of stuff ?... let's be honest. [ August 19, 2005, 02:57 PM: Message edited by: rh71 ] |

My case in point as the problem w/this whole chivalry thing. I think women's lib has been around long enough to where the guys 18-40 years old pretty much understand women can do anything a guy can by now so there's no need to prove that repeatedly by throwing their gorgeous backs out carrying too much crap or pushing 50lb doors open. Guys, on the other hand, have been pretty much bred since little to handle what I call the "pack mule" or "grunt" jobs such as lifting heavy things etc. and taking the punishment that comes w/them. I know a woman can do the job of a Navy Seal or other "manly" jobs effectively and they should have the right to do so, I'm just of the mind that they shouldn't HAVE to do that as they look so much more natural having the ability to be feminine in their work. That doesn't mean they have to all be secretaries but I just say leave the punishing things to the guys as, in some odd ways, I think we kind of deserve it for the crappy things we sometimes do to women. I don't want to sound chauvanistic but I'd rather see a female VP walking down the street in a business suit than a sweaty construction girl even though I know they can do both. Men just seem more natural in hard labor to me. Chivalry not only should include defending women as a whole (which we need to do a better job of, given the numbers of violent crimes I see daily against them), being gentlemanly in daily actions, or speaking correctly to them but also taking on tasks that could include bodily wear or tear. Women should, and do, have the option of doing them but if we truly care about their well being we should step up and do them. Women's Lib is having the OPTION of doing that, not HAVING to do it to prove yourselves in my opinion. Women like Danica Patrick, Serena Williams, Billy Jean King, etc. have already done the proving more than effectively, I think.

| It's nice to see you guys are gentlemen (CZ and Rh) but if the wife really wants to mow the lawn and keeps on insisting, maybe it's better off you allowing her to do so once in a blue moon. That's how we are, we don't want to feel as if we have limited freedom. I'm not saying you're doing wrong in not allowing her to mow the lawn, it seems as if you care for her which is really cute but try giving her at least one opportunity. I know I'd much rather be indoors and do house work (I'm a neat freak, I really don't mind cleaning) but if she wants to do the tough/dirty job it's because she's willing to do so. ;) |

I'd say if she's really insistent upon doing it, let her do it and go turn on baseball or something as you'll never be able to change her mind no matter your approach. Mowing the lawn isn't exactly lugging 100lb potted trees into the back yard to plant or pouring concrete which I just couldn't allow my wife to do on principal. Hopefully that doesn't make me a sexist pig but I like to keep her as limber as I can The least we can do as guys, beyond loading a dishwasher, is keep the women from having to do manual labor which is my main pet peeve, as it just doesn't look right to me for some reason I can't put my finger on (I know it's NOT because I think they can't do it, though). What we've been debating over and over is why Cash doesn't seem to think that or if it's Jess being uber-girl. I, maybe on my bias toward her, think he's the issue but maybe her virtue clouds my vision? Perhaps my own aversion to allowing my wife to do the uber tasks is to avoid Cash-like questions from those observing my own marital relationship? I suddenly feel enlightened. Thank you, Cash!

| We're all about positivity here in the Alba forum except for that one unmentionable topic which brings out the nastiness in some of us (keeping from typing C..a.... w/all my might). I guess her glow reflects to us which is cool. She's our daily pick-me-up! |

| It's good that you guys say positive things about her and actually have respect by not considering her as an sex object. Compare this forum to IMDB; IMDB is hell! The guys in that forum and so desperate, lol, it's bewilders me. All the perverted and unnecessary comments/fantasies about her Some of them are humorous reading the response coming from true JA fans that are decent but the majority of them are awfully disturbing, keep that to yourself! You guys are actually normal and I'm sure it'll continue staying that way in this forum. |

| I don't know, I noticed when I first got here we had a few horny apples that would say bad things and either the moderator got them or they were just passing through. I look at it this way: you don't objectify a woman you respect and I think most of us here respect Jessica for her accomplishments and personality as we know it so it prohibits us from going overboard on daydreaming about those things a lot. But, if you spend much time in the yellow bikini threads, it's still there to a degree, just in moderation. |
