| theres no problem with what jessica or this latina girl said. i am half sicilian with a mix of danish, english and jewish. I am not jewish by religion and i dont speak any danish or hebrew. I do however speak italian and spanish myself. the only thing i find really stupid is how people put pressure on others to learn a language because its their heritage or if actors and actresses feel the need to set examples by learning their native tongue. i have been speaking italian since i could talk and jennifer lopez and people have done the same. theres no big deal here. y'all need to chill out and understand that jessica is learing spanish because she wants to and is not forced to esse? |

| I can't understand how someone that represents many different ethnicities and cultures would ever be able to "represent" them all like Jessica would have to. Maybe I'm dumb but I would assume coming from multi-cultural backgrounds would allow the person the ability to CHOOSE which parts of their background they love the most and wish to adopt. After all, that's what being American is about I think: having the power to choose. Therefore, inherently, you are not forced into having to "represent" a certain part of your background. If Jessica has been sort of shunned by her Latina roots, as she's referred to in past interviews, I believe, then it'd be natural she'd probably explore other parts of her roots first. But, I'm sure she's probably got parts of her Latina roots that she likes and has accepted into her life. Regardless, in the end, I think it's HER choice and she has definitely not spat on her roots as UCLA seems to be suggesting. She has admitted to being a great godparent to her family's kids which is a key Catholic component and a big part of Latin American culture so she does see her family as a big part of her life. I think Will Smith catches a lot of crap for this same stuff unjustly because he doesn't "represent" African-American society enough. The guy does all kinds of charity work but because he doesn't speak like he's from the 'hood, has a stable family life, and hangs around Philly instead of Harlem he's shunned. The guy still came from urban neighborhoods, he's just succeeded in both music and film and stayed out of trouble. I think "selling out" causes these kinds of reactions mostly out of jealousy myself. |

| Well I give you a compliment UCLA_LATINA, you are very very hot ;) (If that is really your picture ) But with your Caps Lock on and your text really seems like littlebit teenage I really dont know what is the problem in here. Im from Russia and I live in Finland so it is hard for me to say is this wrong if Jessica Alba dont say that she is latino Žor... For me it is very silly that you take this so seriously  (ps. Im 18 years old ;) and I have Messenger) |

| Wow so many new people, I can't keep up anymore. Anyway, its all been said before...so I'm just gonna say I agree with RH71 and C_Zman. Im onlly a quater sicilian but i got it in the looks (dark hair, and a good amount of it) and the way I act (I'm very outgoing/loud, a definate italian thing) So that's what I embrace the most. Being latino isnt better than being danish, at all, so she DOESNT have to represent one over the other. Oh btw, I'm used to surfing gaming boards, this smells like a troll to me. nice pic, if its real. ALso, so what if she didnt get the "booty" of a latino as your saying? Her behind cannot get any more perfect! I wouldnt have her trade it for a more latino butt ever! |

Sorry if I can't take you too seriously, and your post seems written out of jealousy. I've been a Jessica Alba fan for the last few months and she seems proud of where she comes from. However, Jessica doesn't feel she needs to be defined simply as a Latino woman! As an actress she wants to be able to play characters of different backgrounds, she wants to break the mold. Seeing as she is also of French and Danish descent is she also a "discraze to the French" because she doesn't speak French!? My friend is Chinese but only speaks English, and I don't doubt for a second that she is proud of her heritage - but she sees herself as British! Jessica was born in America, she is American - and I'm pretty sure if you said what you think of her to her face, she would kick your Latino ass. | |

| Heartless Bastard ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I eat beans all the time. You seem to be annoyed that she has associated her inability to speak Spanish with her Latina heritage. Is that it? Is that what caused that almost illegible tirade? What would you do if an actual problem presented itself? This is a non-issue. |
