The TV news isn't all bad on the local front. "Your film commission in Philadelphia is amazing," says Ghost Whisperer executive producer Kim Moses. "I was on the phone with a number of different police departments and a number of different film commissions around the country. Philadelphia – I called this morning. It was the most amazing thing. In two hours, I had three detectives and a medical examiner on the phone with me. They were all over it." Moses is working with Emmy-winning writer Lance Gentile (ER) to develop a new cop show. (It's all hush-hush, so somebody else doesn't grab the idea.) "You guys get a gold star on your foreheads," said Moses. "You understand the value of the entertainment industry coming to your town. When you do a series, your budgets are, like, millions and millions of dollars, and when you go into a city with a TV show, you bring all that revenue with you, and you have jobs, and there’s no environmental impact. Nobody got it like Philadelphia. "Police usually are, for a good reason, very guarded. Not these guys. They were so helpful. It was wonderful. I hope that we can shoot it there." Two particular people can stand up and take a bow: Erin Jackson, production co-ordinator in the Greater Philadelphia Film Office, and PPD Public Affairs Sgt. Ray Evers. With such a great experience, might Moses consider bringing her current show to Philadelphia? "The Ghost Whisperer can go anywhere," she said, "and we’re in our fifth year, so we’re always looking for an adventure." |
