Melinda Gordon?

Here's something about "Ghost Whisperer" that I've wondered about before, but forgot to post about.

Since Melinda knows now that her real father is Paul Eastman, why hasn't she changed her last name to Eastman?

I would have thought that she would want to, because she knows that her real father loves her; and the man who she thought was her father, Tom Gordon, murdered her real father and even tried to murder her.

I wouldn't think that she would want to keep the last name of Gordon after knowing the truth.

Or what about Melinda Lucas? Since she's now married to Sam Lucas (well, his body anyway) and her and Jim's son is going to have the last name of Lucas.

But then again, it might not seem fair, since she never took Jim's last name and he's her true love.

Maybe. But I don't know why her mother would want Tom Gordon's last name either. She knows, too, what he did.

Because "Tom Gordon" is the name of the father on Melinda Gordon's birth certificate (if there was one)!

Because Tom Gordon looked after her and performed all the duties and responsibilities of her father for 20+ (or even 30) years EVEN though he knew she was not his daughter!

There has been no evidence that he was abusive to her. More importantly her MOTHER was the one who ensured that Melinda did NOT know who her real father was!

But he was still a bad man for robbing her of her real father and trying to murder her.
