TV Ratings: CBS Knows What Viewers Want on Friday Network also tops the 18-to-49 demo January 24, 2009 Jennifer Love Hewitt of 'Ghost Whisperer' LOS ANGELES -- Fast National ratings for Friday, Jan. 23, 2009 While the other networks continue to cast about for something to do with their Friday night schedules, CBS took home another end-of-the-week win with a 6.7 rating/12 share among households. FOX was a distant second with a 3.6/6, followed by ABC, 3.2/6, NBC, 3.1/5, and The CW, 0.9/2. Among 18 to 49-year-olds, CBS was also tops with a 2.6. ABC managed a 1.6 over FOX and NBC's 1.5. The CW was last with a 0.6. CBS started off at 8 p.m. with the highest-rated, most-watched show of the evening, "Ghost Whisperer," 7.1/12. FOX's "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" came in second over NBC's "Howie Do It," 3.3/6. ABC's "Wife Swap" repeat, 2.7/5, received more than double the viewership of The CW's "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game," which averaged a 1.1/2 for the hour. At 9 p.m., "Flashpoint," brought CBS down to a 6.2/11, but still handily won the hour. FOX held on to second place with "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 3.2/6. ABC rose to third with "Supernanny" as "Friday Night Lights," 2.5/4, dropped NBC to fourth place. The CW ended its night with a new episode of "13: Fear Is Real," 0.7/1. CBS bounced back at 10 p.m. to a 6.7/12 with "Numb3rs." ABC stayed in second place with "20/20," 3.8/7, and NBC made its way back to a 3.4/6 with "Dateline." Ratings information is taken from fast national data, which includes live and same-day DVR viewing. All numbers are preliminary and subject to change. |
