"Ghost Whisperer" scares up biggest audience Friday; CBS wins the night with double dose of "Numb3rs" posted by halboedeker on Dec 20, 2008 12:11:56 PM Friday was CBS' story the whole way. "Ghost Whisperer" pulled in prime time's biggest audience, and two episodes of "Numb3rs" kept CBS on top. At 8, "Ghost Whisperer" averaged 10.2 million viewers. Fox was second as 6.2 million enrolled in "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" At 9, a "Numb3rs" repeat drew 7.8 million to CBS. The first hour of "Dateline NBC" ran second with 6.1 million. On Fox, "Don't Forget the Lyrics!" had 5 million playing along. At 10, a new "Numb3rs" had the biggest numer: 9.2 million fans. A second hour of "Dateline" pulled 6.4 million to NBC. ABC's "20/20" ran third with 5.7 million. For the night, CBS averaged 9.1 million in prime time. I have numbers for these broadcasters: Fox with 5.6 million, NBC with 5.2 million, ABC with 4.1 million and The CW with 1.4 million. CBS easily won the 18-to-49 age group. NBC and Fox tied for second, edging ABC. |

TV Ratings: 'Ghost Whisperer' Spooks CBS' Friday Rivals CBS also won among adults 18-49 December 20, 2008 Jennifer Love Hewitt of 'Ghost Whisperer' Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 19, 2008 Although last week CBS claimed victory with its holiday programming, the network still won the ratings crown with its tried-and-true lineup of Friday dramas. CBS owned the night in households with a 5.8 rating/10 share, ahead of NBC's second place finish of 3.6/6, FOX's 3.4/6, ABC's 2.8/5 and The CW's 0.9/1. Among 18 to 49-year-olds, CBS was also tops with a 2.1. NBC and FOX tied for second with a 1.3 apiece, while ABC took in a 1.2 and The CW trailed with a 0.5. CBS kicked off the evening at 8 p.m. with "Ghost Whisperer" nabbing a 6.5/11, the highest-rated show of the night. FOX's "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" came in second with a 3.8/7, while ABC's repeat of "Wife Swap," 2.4/4, just squeaked by NBC's "Momma's Boys" repeat, 2.3/4. The CW brought up the rear with reruns of the comedies "Everybody Hates Chris" and "The Game." At 9 p.m., CBS' repeat of "Numb3rs" still came in first for the hour with a 5.1/9, while "Dateline NBC" scored a 4.1/7 for runner-up honors. In third place was FOX's "Don't Forget the Lyrics," 3.0/5, ahead of ABC's "Supernanny" repeat, 2.2/4. More repeats of the same CW sitcoms from the previous hour only mustered a 0.8/1. It was the same ol' story at 10 p.m. CBS's "Numb3rs" repeat drew a 5.8/10, followed by NBC's "Dateline," 4.4/8, and ABC's "20/20," 3.9/7.
