It does make a lot of sense to lighten up the series since it came on before the very funny Ally McBeal. The original unaired pilot for TOYL was a little more edgy. The primary change was made to one of the characters (Diego Serrano's role, the guy shown with Love in this article). They changed him from being a thief to being a hairdresser in the re-shoot. One other character was dropped altogether, a store clerk. Funny thing is they brought that same actor back in a different role as a cop, in one of the unaired episodes later in the season. Overall they kept the pilot story almost identical in the re-shoot, Sarah arriving in New York still searching for her father. They did make it a bit more lighthearted when compared to the original pilot, they kept the tears and drama, certainly important for Sarah's emotional search. By the way, Wentworth Miller had a hilarious role as a gay hairdresser on the series. You only see him a couple of brief times, he was great. Last edited by i love love : 04-23-2008 at 04:08 AM. |
