Talking Some stuff while I was out

Ian here from the show, it's been a CRAZY long week here with all the set decorations for an upcoming holiday episode (but fun!) so that's why I've taken a while to get back. If you're one of the lucky few who's at Universal Studios this week you can see how we've updated Grandview for Christmas!

angelbunny225 said we're losing viewers but rest assured this is not only not true, we're gaining MORE viewers thanks to guys like you who spread the word! We were ranked #43 overall at the season premiere, then #38 episode 2 & we were #34 last week - hopefully we'll keep moving on up!!

While I understand the frustration with the stand alone episodes (this week is one too for those of you waiting), this is an interesting one that plays with the idea of good ghosts vs. bad ghosts & also whom is really a ghost. And if it makes you feel better, NEXT WEEK (episode 5) will be all about Melinda's storyline and it is a HUGE turning point in the series as we will see what is going on with the ghosts in Grandview, her brother Gabriel (by the way I went to school with the actor Ignacio Serrichio he is an awesome guy), and we'll learn more about Melinda's story & family history, and we'll begin to see Jim & Melinda's relationship a bit more (a lot more in episode 6).

I realize this doesn't help with this week but then again don't forget a lot of Melinda's job is to send spirits over to the other side. And I don't see all of the scripts right away either so who knows it could tie back into the stories later this season.

Hope that's enough inside info to whet your appetite. Don't forget to watch tomorrow at 8 PM on CBS!

Ian121,

Thanks for the info on the shows to come. That was very interesting.

But the following quote shows that either you are in the marketing dept. (of GW/CBS) or you are NOT an accountant on the show

The numbers you are quoting (position in the top 100 shows of the week) do NOT back up your contention that GW is getting more viewers each week. What they do mean is

Week 1 (season premiere) - There were 42 shows with more viewers that week.
Week 2 - There were 37 shows with more viewers that week.
Week 3 - There were 33 shows with more viewers that week.

These are relative positions BASED on number of viewers each week.

The are 3 possible reasons for this;

1) GW is getting more viewers each week.
2) GW is getting the same number of viewers each week and other shows are losing viewers so THEY are dropping down the list.
3) GW is losing some viewers each week and other shows are losing EVEN MORE viewers so dropping quicker.

If you had quoted ACTUAL viewer numbers for each week we could have been more confident in your assertion that "this is not only not true, we're gaining MORE viewers ".

Would it help if we all watched twice?

WANG: I am NOT an accountant on the show, as I said I'm in the art dept. As far as the info, it's available to the public, just do some research online & you'll find it.

As for your quote, you're right, it's based on the # of viewers each week. However you made an error ie ranked 42 means there's 41 shows ranked higher than us, not 42 ranked higher (unless a there's a tie in various positions...I don't know if there were I just saw the numbers, I didn't look at the overall top 100)

As for your 3 reasons, I'm not going to argue over these - like I said all of this info is in the public domain (it's usually printed in the newspaper) so I don't know if we have the same #s or everyone else is losing theirs, etc. but these seem unlikely, especially with the success of other shows it doesn't seem like nobody's watching or less people are watching. I'd have to look up the shows & quote the #s but I would imagine that a show that gets buzz like ours will attract interest in addition to the heavy marketing via tv, radio, print and internet... not to mention this season is skewing towards younger people & that is adding more viewers as opposed to seasons 1 & 2.

So yes this is all assumption. I was trying to be positive. And feel free to watch this more than once - tho how will you do it unless you have tivo? Or drive across time zones with the portable TV?
