| It's only words... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Probably not... That's how it goes in film industry today, and I called it an industry on purpose. It is very risky to produce new films because maybe they won't be appreciated by the viewers, resulting to a financial catastrophy. So now the people in Hollywood decide to make 'chains' of movies. I didn't thought that Garfield was a big hit, and I don't understand why they make a second, and third movie... Sequels like that frustrate me: it has nothing to do with art. Like the spiderman, pirates of the caribbean and harry potter series too: they have a huge budget, and most of the times they only bring in the double of what was put in the movie. A real succes is a movie that brings in four times the initial budget. This to compare succes of movies as The Graduate, Trainspotting, Evil Dead, Easy Rider,... All of these movies brought ten to twenty times their budget. They're the real successes, but didn't have a huge starting budget. Where film is still an art, not an economic industry, that's were I want to be... Last edited by Preston Meyers : 06-06-2007 at 10:37 AM. |

I'm in the 'I hope she doesn't do it' camp. I maybe hasty, but if this is a straight to dvd one, then I don't hold up any hopes for it. If you rememeber they've done a third Summer film. Okay Love wasn't in it, but it was straight to dvd and how did that do? |

There are so many other good movies that have to work with so much less and are just better, but have a bad promotion, post production because producers rather promote a movie that guarantees a certain success. It is a serieus problem in filmmaking. Last edited by Preston Meyers : 06-06-2007 at 02:15 PM. | |

And you're correct: promotion doesn't guarantee a thing, only curiousity, but it's that curiousity that makes a good movie 'good' to the public. You have to bring a good movie to the public. If Only didn't do all that well, and I think it's Love's best movie, when you look at the story. I agree that LOTR is a great trilogy, and there is a difference between it and the potter movies. I just put them together because they are both chains of movies who are, sorry to say: overrated. Sure they are good, but there are so much better movies that do bad due to a lack of promotion. You have to get a crowd warm to go watch it. Off course there will be people thinking that LOTR is the greatest trilogy ever, and that it's epic and stuff... I'm sharing my thoughts with the fellow Love fans! |
