| http://www.variety.com/article/VR111...goryid=13&cs=1 Looks like they renamed the movie Shortcut to Happiness? Lame. BTW, Starz is a premium movie channel you have to pay for like HBO. www.starz.com --- Starz buys 'Illusionist' TV rights Company takes five Yari movies By JOHN DEMPSEY Starz has bought exclusive pay TV rights to "The Illusionist" and four other movies produced and distributed by Bob Yari Prods. Among the other titles is "Shortcut to Happiness," Alec Baldwin's directing debut which was filmed in 2001 under the title "The Devil and Daniel Webster." Pic, which makes its theatrical bow later this year, is an update of the Stephen Vincent Benet story and Archibald Macleish play, about a writer (Baldwin) who sells his soul to the devil (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Anthony Hopkins and Kim Cattrall also star. Nancy Silverstone, VP of program acquisitions for Starz Entertainment, said the films feature "strong casts, and have good budgets." The Yari movie with the earliest availability to Starz -- it kicks off in March -- is "Winter Passing," a drama about an actress (Zooey Deschanel) and her novelist father (Ed Harris). Will Ferrell has a supporting role. In the spring, the comedy "Find Me Guilty" will make its Starz debut. Sidney Lumet-helmed pic stars Vin Diesel as a mobster who defended himself during the longest mob trial in U.S. history. It grossed less than $2 million domestically. Net will heavily promote the summer bow of "Illusionist" on Starz, premiering it in the Saturday-night showcase for high-visibility theatricals. Another summer movie for Starz is "Haven" (2004), a crime drama that got only limited theatrical release despite starring Orlando Bloom and Bill Paxton. "The Illusionist" has grossed $39.7 million in U.S. theaters, making it something of a surprise hit. Last edited by Xator; 01-09-2007 at 02:40 AM.. |

| Cannot live without Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Wow! If this is true and not another fake rumor (I'm not questioning you, Xator, but Variety.com and its sources), this could be amazing! "New" title is silly, but who cares... Thank you for the good news. P.S.: Next to this, all Party of Five seasons will be released on DVD, then Time Of Your Life too, then Love will win an Oscar, then I will date Her... ![]() Last edited by mced; 01-09-2007 at 03:12 AM.. |

Even passing up DVD now? Oh well we'll take what we can get. I suppose we could still see a DVD after it's airing. I think Variety is fairly respectable. Another plus here is Starz is a cable network that will probably not edit it. No commercials and no further edits, thank goodness it's not going direct to network television. | It is great we will finally get to see it. Better late than never. This really began Love's downfall as a movie star so I have mixed feelings about this movie. Starting with this movie her movies started to be released direct to DVD or cable and not to wide distribution in movie theaters and lead her back to the lesser medium of TV and Ghost Whisperer. So it is great to see it but it was a very negative thing in many ways for Love. |

| Cannot live without Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We can have several interpretations about that "downfall". First of all, Love Herself confessed (at Carlson Daly's show) that when TOYL was cancelled, She was begging people to say 'Hello' to Her; so maybe we can date that "downfall" one year before. But talking about movies, I don't think there's so much difference between "before" and "after" TDADW. Before, we have a big hit named "I Know... Last Summer" and a bunch of minor movies. After, a bit hit named "Garfield" and a bunch of minor movies. Yes, in terms of numbers, there are less movies after 2001; but Love was no more a workaholic teenager like in the '90s. If we are talking about popularity, yes, there's a downfall. But we use to think about that like it was something weird; when maybe the weird situation was that *extreme* popularity She got in the second half of the ninetees. After that, She was another average actress, no more, no less. No talking about quality. Personally I prefer "If Only" over any of Her movies in the '90s. By far. Yes, horrible English speaking. ![]() |

If Only never got the credit it deserved along with The Truth About Love, but no matter what Love has never given up and has always come back with that beautiful smile. Now thanks to Ghost Whisperer she is back were she belongs #1... ![]() |

| Scarlett's "Q"-Love ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Whatever the case on this movie may be (I posted some news on it awhile ago that turned out to be erroneous), I hope that it at least returns something on the investment of time and money that Love put into the film. ![]() The same thing goes for other works that Love has been involved in. *to Hollywood's power brokers* Release Love's handiwork, dammit, and get your money's worth! We're willing to pay through the nose!! ![]() |
