Voting Begins For 2006 SyFy Genre Awards

Cast your ballots once a day until Aug. 22

(July 24 2006) - It got a late start, but it's now time to vote for the 2006 SyFy Genre Awards!

All you have to do is click on the Genre Awards logo at the top of your screen, or simply click here.

"Battlestar Galactica" is once again the huge leader in the Genre Awards with 12 nominations, but the question remains whether visitors to SyFy Portal will make the show a winner. Last year, despite receiving a record 13 nominations, the show was shut out in the win categories.

New this year are BEST WEB SITE with some of the Internet's best places to surf up for nomination. They include Bloody Disgusting, GateWorld, Kryptonsite, SciFi Wire, and Whedonesque. Also, thanks to a fluke in television scheduling, two dead shows are in open nomination this year: "Wonderfalls" and "Firefly." In fact, both the series "Firefly" -- which had "lost" episodes aired for the first time on SciFi Channel -- and its movie, "Serenity," are up for awards this year.

So vote early and vote (no more than once-per-day) often! Balloting remains open until Aug. 22.
