Yeah I guess. For those who don't know, Alan Smithee is the name that's put onto films when the director has ended up wanting his or her name removed from the film due to one reason or another. The reason why is that each film has to have a directors name attached, even if it's a ficticious name like this one. | |

During its filming, Richard Widmark was unhappy with director Robert Totten. He arranged to have Totten replaced by Don Siegel. When the film was finished, neither Totten nor Siegel wanted to be credited with the result. At first it was decided that the credit should go to Al Smith, but the DGA said there had already been a director by that name. The DGA decided the film could carry the pseudonym "Allen Smithee". Smithee's work was praised by film critics. The New York Times commented that the film was "sharply directed by Allen Smithee who has an adroit facility for scanning faces and extracting sharp background detail." | Don't hold your breadth...rumors spreading like wild fire about a "tell all" about to be published thats got the full story about the making of the film and the shenanigans that were pullled by the producer david glasser (bob yari's partner)..no surprise since both yari and glasser are defendants in lawsuits for defrauding investors....small things like phony letters of credit, phony bookkeeping, etc these guys are the laurel and hardy of the film industry..(e.g. "Crash" made tens of millions but the actors haven't even gotten paid..and yari claims "all of the money has been accounted for...and everyone's gotten what they are supposed to"...... the devil made him do it? |
