| Senior Member ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Not too long ago I learned that JLH was on Carson Daily's late night show. Holy cow! I wish I knew about that. I believe she was on the show last December. I know this is kind of a weird question but, is there any way to get that show, or that PART of the show, on the net? Thanks, and I'll understand if there's no response. ![]() |

I was in attendance, they edited out several great moments, it's a shame too, since Carson came back down to Earth during her visit. I suppose he had to keep up appearances and they took out a couple of respectful reminiscent things he said to her that night. |

Let me say something here, I'll make it brief. I was NEVER good with words. But I'll do my best. I am so appreciative, so overwhelmed, and so touched not just by the help, but also by especially the kindness & friendship here. I promise to post on the "...introduce yourself..." thread about how and why I became a fan of JLH's, as my conscience is bothering me for not doing it yet. Barring emergencies I'll type it by tomorrow night (Jn 17th) You folks are the best. ![]() |

She looked exquisite in a black, low-cut, spaghetti-strapped, black dress and acted like a real lady. Carson was kind of a jerk but Love didn't let him phase her. She was composed, made smart comments, and went along with his banter. At the end she said that the breakup was mutual and that "I was a pretty good girlfriend to you, wasn't I?" to which he had to agree. Here was the Bears reaction at the time. Posted March 10, 2006 04:37 PM Really, we hope Love gets to see this thread and how all but one rose to her defense. We agree the troll might be Carson Daly -- she really got the best of him on his own show. Last edited by thebears; 06-19-2006 at 01:04 AM.. Reason: Fix title |

I was there at the taping, heard it myself. Carson also shared the photos of his sister's new baby during one of the brief commercial breaks, Love was cooing over them. He didn't fawn over her but he was quite respectful when the camera was off. |

| Ms. Hewitt seemed very composed and in command of her emotions and the overall situation – not an easy feat considering the interview must have presented her with some mixed feelings and been somewhat awkward for her, given her past relationship with Mr. Daly. But the most striking aspect of Ms. Hewitt's comportment on the Daly show was how it contrasted to how she came across in her recent appearances on The Tonight Show, the Late Late Show, and The Ellen DeGeneres Show. In the latter, Ms. Hewitt seemed to assume a more immature persona: she resorted to talking about her pets, her mother, her phobias, etc. Though all such insights into her life and personality may be endearing, they also serve to uphold an image of her as being relatively young and "cute," and Ms. Hewitt herself reinforces this image when she refers to herself as Mr. Leno's "daughter." As has already been pointed out in this thread, some of this "typecasting" is no doubt a result of the type of questions presented to her. But on the Daly show, Ms. Hewitt comes across as noticeably more mature and "adult," perhaps because she is interacting with someone much closer to her own age than, for example, Mr. Leno, but perhaps also because the entire interview was framed within the context of a much more grown-up aspect of her life: her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, and her subsequent appearance on his show. Just by appearing on Mr. Daly's show, Ms. Hewitt reveals to all that she is willing to make herself vulnerable and expose a very private side of her life (both marks of maturity), and though her conversation with Mr. Daly was quite humorous and entertaining at points, it focuses almost exclusively on her adult relationship with a former lover that ended painfully. The viewer is not blind to the pain that she bore and still bears: it is manifested in the questions she asks, the comments she makes, the huskiness of her voice, and those few moments where she does seem in jeopardy of losing her composure. The depth and breadth of Ms. Hewitt's potential as an actress are much more apparent on the Daly show because we see the breadth and depth – and pain and sorrow as well as joy – of her own personal experience. Sorry for the length of this entry; thanks for your patience. |

Certainly what Love is going to talk about is planned out in advance. Love likes to do screwball comedy but neither her current TV show or movie give her a showcase for that talent. So she takes the opportunity to do it on The Tonight Show. We don't agree that doing the exaggerated stories about her supposed "problems" is immature. It is a form of comedy many stand-ups use and we think she is doing it very well, thank you. As she has stated in recent interviews, Love is not interested in exposing more of her life to the public so why should she talk about really personal things in these interviews. The Carson Daly show was an exception because they had a history with "unfinished" business. On Leno's show she appeared to promote Garfield: Tale of Two Kitties and entertain us. Which she did in spades! ![]() | |
