MAYER APOLOGISES TO HEWITT
Singer JOHN MAYER was forced to apologise to ex-girlfriend JENNIFER LOVE HEWITT, after joking about his romance with the star during in impromptu comedy routine. Mayer made a surprise appearance at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood on 26 May (06), where he talked about his relationship with the former PARTY OF FIVE actress. The pair dated briefly in 2002, but Mayer said he never got to have sex with Hewitt because of a bout of food poisoning, brought on by some bad fish. Mayer tells American publication Us Weekly, "It really was me making fun of myself." The singer, who reportedly wrote hit YOUR BODY IS A WONDERLAND as a tribute to his ex, says he felt remorseful after his raunchy comedy routine and immediately sent an apology to Hewitt. He adds, "I'm a wimp."

I'm quite sure he thought he was being funny. I'll bet there were many in attendance that laughed too. These kinds of stories, like Walderama's, shouldn't be important to anyone other than the tabloids.

He's a pretty impressive musician, he has a sense of humor, did a great little skit on Chapelle's show too.

John Mayer may want to stick to music. During a surprise stand-up comedy appearance at Hollywood's Laugh Factory May 26, Mayer, 28, joked that some bad fish came between him and Jennifer Love Hewitt. The two dated briefly in 2002, but Mayer said that he never got to do the deed, because of a bout with food poisioning. "It really was me making fun of myself," the singer-songwriter tells Us of his comedy gig, adding that he sent an apology to Hewitt, 27, "I'm a wimp." (Hewitt's rep didn't return calls)

I remember back at the beginning of June the New York Post ran a piece that he was telling sex jokes about her. They made it out to seem like he was bragging about sleeping with her. It's good that he has corrected their error and clarified the context of the jokes and that they were self-deprecating. I've actually never heard him say a bad word about her. He's always been nice to her. He also didn't write Your Body is a Wonderland for her. He was performing that all the way back in 1999 before he became successful.
