He also will continue to write and direct episodes of the supernatural drama from Touchstone TV and CBS Paramount Network TV, which is returning for a second season in the fall. Gray said he was surprised but very pleased by "Ghost's" ratings success. "We seem to have tapped into some desire and need from the audience to believe that there is more there than you can see, and we try to bring some hybrid of horror and a character-driven story," he said. Gray plans to stay the course next season. "We're very interested in developing our mythology further while staying true to the core (of the show) -- get a good scare and a good cry -- that people respond to," he added. Gray wrote and directed the pilot as well as the two-part first-season finale. He also will write and direct the two-hour second-season opener as well as two or three more episodes next season. Gray oversees the writers on the show from New York -- where he lives -- and executive produces the series with Touchstone TV-based Ian Sander and Kim Moses.
