Dave, we admire your knowledge of JLH, but we have to disagree with you on this as far as our initial reaction to
Confessions.... Our impression of the movie was that the first part was weak but it really got moving in the last 2/3 or so (a problem it shares with
The Truth About Love). Love just doesn't do "mean" very well and that was what Katya was all about in the first part. We think it is because she is just too nice! Love can do revenge, hurt, and retaliation when people hurt her, but she just cannot be realistic in deliberately hurting someone for no reason at all.
Love may not know who Konstantin Stanislavski or Lee Strasberg are, or has ever taken a class at The Actors Studio but we are pretty sure she is a
method actor. If she hasn't experienced an emotion in her life, she doesn't portray it very well on camera. On the other hand, if she has experienced it, she can really make us believe what her character feels. So no Betty Davis roles for Love.
