Regarding gossip

It seems that there has been a lot of back and forth lately about topics that could be considered gossip. We're all interested in Love's life, professional and otherwise, because we're her fans. That's quite understandable. She's a wonderful performer and a better person from all that I can tell.

Without trying to single anyone out (there are more than one) and to be as general as possible, some members here seem to perpetuate and/or refute so-called gossip more than others. Some posts have gotten fairly personal, though still mostly civil, but it's all crazy to me.

Unless we hear something from Love's mouth directly, we don't know anything for sure about her life, especially her romantic encounters. Just because she's in close proximity to someone or somewhat affectionate or seen often with someone doesn't mean that she's dating that person. And while I am as interested in her personal life as anyone, it's really nobody's business unless she chooses to share any details. Even then, it's not like any of us actually know her personally.

I'm sure we all wish her the best and want her to be happy. Some of us wish she were happy dating us, myself surely included. I'd be less than honest if I said that it didn't bother me some hearing that she may be dating someone, but she's a big girl, and it's not likely that any of us would have a shot with her if just for that fact that we're not that likely to meet her like others would normally do.

I'm not suggesting that people not take interest in or not discuss any part of Love's life. I'm not suggesting that anyone be any less passionate about his/her admiration for her. What I would like to get across is that there are some things that we will never know for sure about her life unless she tells us herself. There are a lot of misinformation and quotes out of context out there. And again, some things just aren't our business. Like anyone else, Love is entitled to her privacy, even though her work puts her in the public eye. Let's just admire her for what we know and see ourselves and leave all of the negativity that often comes with the gossip elsewhere.

To reiterate, this post isn't directed at anyone in particular. Many of us have commented about gossip, including me. I hope this is received as it was meant to be, and not as an inflaming topic. Life is just too short to speculate about things we can never know for sure and to argue about those things.

This is pretty well said. Everybody is going to hold whatever opinion that they want in regards to gossip and I think most people just hope that those topics can be treated in a way in which doesn’t lead to it dominating the board because when it does, it never seems to end well.
