She also mentions talk of another IKWYDLS movie. I hope they don't do another one.

http://www.darkhorizons.com/news04/041213j.php

November's issue of Cosmopolitan magazine has landed an interesting scoop - former "Party of Five" star turned film actress Jennifer Love Hewitt wants to do a movie based on the life of Annette Funicello, the Mouseketeer.

"It would be an absolute honor to play someone like Annette. She's such an entertainer, she's an inspiration...and someone so many of today's youth have probably never even heard of. We're talking about it. We're not going to get going on it until we've got a killer script though. I'm looking forward to the opportunity" says the starlet who was last seen in this year's "Garfield".

And any more "I Know What You Did Last Summer" movies? "At one stage we were doing one, then they were doing one without us, then it was going to be a telemovie and last I heard they might want us back for a third one, to wrap it all up. They're a lot of fun to do, and not as easy as they look".

Hmm, about that new movie. My first thought is, that it doesn't sounds that great to me.
1. LOW buget
2. Very unknown actors
3. Won't be showed in the cinema

Ok, this was a very quickly thought of course, but I won't be surprized if that's the truth.
But the question is also, it could be just another rumour.

And about Love making a third summer film, well I don't believe any of it.

Playing Annette would be very cool. The woman is an angel. She was the first pin-up girl for little kids because of the Mouseketeers and made tons of music albums. She is beautiful and had many very popular songs in her day. She wound up with Multiple Sclerosis and is now in a wheelchair and has very little mobility now. Her and the other Mouseketeers symbolized an innocent age of early TV. She is great.

I suppose the IKWYDLS rumors are never going to end. Maybe Love has been tempted by the paycheck, otherwise it's a terrible role to do again. The old rumor was they were going to have new actors. Man, the critics would have a field day if Love actually accepted that silly role... again.

Hmm, interesting. Wonder what the timetable is on the biopic? Would be nice to see.

As for the I Know... stuff, producers probably looked at the large amounts of $$$ some recent horror films have made and approached her (and Prinze?) about reviving the franchise. Horror is easy money.

TC: you make a really good point. Horror is hot right now and IKWYDLS has a built-in recognition factor.
ilovelove: you're so right about Annette F: what a lovely woman. It's tragic what has happened to her.
The scoop about Love playing Annette sounds more like hypothesis than an actual deal in the making, the tip-off being: she "wants" to play the part (as opposed to she "will" play the part) and the idea of waiting until they have a great script. Sounds like there's nothing there yet -- though it would be a great part and great casting, ectually.

Is horror HOT? Did I miss something or is this a US thing? Lately you don't find actually real horror movies anymore. The must of them are more thriller. But besides that, making more money doesn't mean you get better roles.
I checked the all-time worldwide boxoffice on IMDB and 1 film with Love is on the list of 292 movies. It's Garfield. It gets a 4.7 on IMDB and more bad than good reviews.

The people that aren't Love fans and have seen a few movies of her, are making mostly the conclusion that she's just an actress with no that much talent. Always playing the sweat roles and would never consider her as a good actress.
She played too many of these roles. PO5 has where it all started.
Finally she did something different, The Tuxedo.
At the time that Jackie Chan isn't that famous anymore. Then If Only, finally a serious role. Better late than never. We all know what happend with the movie. So it's kinda obvious she doesn't get big roles. Christmas Carol is nice for once, Garfield also, but not if you want to be a great actress. Love is certainly not the only one with this problem.
Of course she has to do something and the role offers won't be great this day.
But she's still 25 and shouldn't be wasting her time doing a third summer film cause it's just fun. I hope she will at least take some roles that are more serious no matter what the budget is.

I'd be happy to see her in anything. I think both of the projects could be good if done right.

Thanks for the news !

Horror movies do well anyway. Especially some silly sequel. Look at Halloween or Elm Street. You can't even kill some of these cottage industries, pun intended.

I thought The Grudge was pretty darn good though only a subtle horror movie. The Saw was outright great for it's gory genre. Right now we have another cash cow with Blade: Trinity.

The line between horror and thriller can be pretty thin. I'd call slasher or gore or monster movies, horror, they're scary. Thriller doesn't necessarily have these elements?

I hope she avoids IKWYDLS but you can't blame her if she falls for the easy money. Just don't do another Tuxedo, just plain God awful.

Depends on what you want to classify them as, but over the last year and a half I would say horror films have made a comeback after a dead period. "The Grudge" made $100+ million, "Saw" made $50+ million on a $1 million budget, the "Freddy Vs. Jason" movie made about $80 million, "Dawn of the Dead" remake about $60 million, and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" remake made $80 million. The video game influenced action thriller/horrors like the "Resident Evil" and "Blade" franchises have also doing quite well lately. These films are always fairly cheap to make, and if the release is timed properly, insures a nice profit for the studio. What you speak of about getting better roles is cool, but Love has to pick and choose amongst the offers she gets. Even those who are well established in drama take on horror and action films for market viability purposes like Halle Berry for instance did a Horror/Thriller film like "Gothika" last year. Charlize Theron is doing "Aeon Flux" of all things. Christina Ricci a young actress with more of a history in serious roles is doing that Wes Craven film "Cursed". Not going to get you much respect amongst critics, but not all roles you take are for that purpose, and fact is, you have to balance between trying to break from a typecast and also allowing your name to remain marketable. I think any studio film that would have built in marketing support helps her with future projects in all genres at this point.

I don't usually get too creeped out by most horror flicks. The Silence of the Lambs is the ultimate horror/thriller flick to me. Great story, great actors, fantastic SUPER EVIL plot twist, and the damn movie had two major evil characters. But, DAMN that Saw movie was something else. It's twist at the end and horrific final moment is just too much. It doesn't rival Lambs but it's enough to make you moan as you witness that last moment, never since "Looking For Mr. Goodbar" (hardly the same genre) have I seen such a gripping ugly ending to a movie. I need to see these other remakes I heard the Chainsaw was fairly well done.

Yeah, I have heard some great things about "Saw". I had planned on seeing it with a friend when it came out, but they chickened out at the last minute and I didn't get around to going to it myself. Looking forward to it when it hits dvd.

Hehehe, nice job, though she looks like one very constipated Mouseketeer.

It's right if you at horror icons.
But actually I won't expect another Nightmare On Elm Street movie. Probably it will be another Freddy vs Jason. And I really can't call Freddy vs Jason a horror movie.
So I also don't expect another Friday the 13th part. There's now a Hellraiser part 7 and 8
what will be a straight to dvd movies.
It could be that there will be another Halloween part, it's actually the only serie I don't have!
Seed Of Chucky isn't making that much money and from what I've heard it's even more comedy than horror.
And the other movies that TC has mentioned.
The remakes of TCM, Dawn Of The Dead
and The Grudge did really well at the boxoffice.
The movie Saw seems to be the best of them all, and not surprizingly is making the less money of them all
I read the review of Roger Ebert about the TCM 2003. Zero stars!
So I have to admit that it's easier money than I thought.
At the other side it's the drama movies that are considered as the best lately:
21 Grams, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Shape Of Things, Before Sunset, Ripley's Game, Thirteen, If Only etc..
But none of them had a high boxoffice.

So I think if Love will make another Summer movie then it can make a great boxoffice and people will see that Jennifer Love Hewitt is still alive, but it's another 2 steps backwards for finally being taken serious.

Not my first choice for a movie I'd like to see her in either but I hope it works out for her. My first choice would be an erotic thriller with lots of nudity which I think would do her career much good.

I don't think she cares! If it's something she wants to do I think she'll do it.

I would be surprised if this was more than a rumor. I think she wants to seperate herself from these roles. On the other hand, here's $4-5 million to do this role. I think I might be able to reprise the role one more time. I don't think it would be terrible, but I don't think it would be that great of a choice either. If she were one of the hot actresses right now I could see the movie doing well. I just don't right now.
