| Some new info in this one. It's too bad about the cheapshot directed toward Love at the end. buttcut already mentioned it in another post. http://www.tvguide.com/news/insider/050317c.asp Jen Love Hewitt's Psychic Trends by Michael Logan We didn't need a psychic to tell us that the success of NBC's Medium would have other networks jumping on the afterlife wagon. But a new CBS drama pilot, starring former Party of Fiver and Neutrogena hawker Jennifer Love Hewitt as a young woman who communicates with the dead, isn't as similar as it sounds. Or so claims the show's creator, famed seer James Van Praagh. "Unlike Medium, we have nothing to do with crime solving. Our psychic is a ghostbuster who helps the dead cross over into the light," says Van Praagh, who previously hosted the syndicated spiritfest Beyond with James Van Praagh. He based his pilot (working title: The Ghost Whisperer) on a popular Cleveland medium known only as Mary Ann. "She believes that there is a 48-hour period after death where we all have free will; [our souls] can stay earthbound or go to the other side," Van Praagh says. Love Hewitt's character will be married to a paramedic and own an antiques store. Van Praagh — whose life was the subject of Living with the Dead, a 2002 CBS movie starring Ted Danson — says he "likes Medium, but sometimes they don't have it right. Patricia Arquette does everything," he says. "She has visions, she heals, she reads minds, she sees into the past and the future. I've never heard of any psychic who can do it all!" If Van Praagh's series resurrects Love Hewitt's career from the dead, that'll be a marvel in itself. |

| of course, if they wrote that about someone I hated I might have a good chuckle ... I know Love has had some career frustration -- D & DW, If Only, In the Game being cancelled. But what star hasn't? Plus, in the last year she has appeared in a movie that was a worldwide success (Garfield), on a TV series as a 60's icon (Nancy Sinatra on American Dreams), in a big musical production of Christmas Carol on TV, in a huge starring role on a cable TV film where she looked better than ever! (Confessions), and is now shooting this CBS pilot. Plus, she made another indie film "Truth About Love" -- and while D & DW is tied up in legal problems, something could still happen with If Only this year -- and it has already made some good money in various foreign markets with very little promotion ... probably on the strength of Love as a draw. While her career might not be exactly where she wants it tbe, it is hardly "dead." Of course, I'm preaching to the choir on this :D Michael Logan/ TV Guide: |

The only thing that concerns me at TV Guide... is their publication. It has now become a pathetic source to look for your TV shows. They no longer have around-the-clock listings and they group prime-time into a grid with zero feedback about any show. The don't list any late night and especially overnight shows at all, not a one. I'm a TV fanatic and I've been a faithful subscriber for years; it's finally time to cancel this useless magazine. |

| lol, I’ll take a wild guess that if Mr. Logan still works for TV guide next season, and Love's show gets picked up and becomes a hit, he'll write some sweet little snippet about her or the show. Those kinds of writers are so predictable. I think the fact that it took her a grand total of 2 weeks to find another starring project after what ABC did speaks for itself in terms of her ability to still be viewed as attractive by the networks. A good looking, 26 year old woman, with a name, and a sizeable fan base, is hardly something networks don't want. I think the simple issue is finding something that works for her because star power alone doesn't get you on as Jessica Simpson and Hilary Duff couldn't get their sitcoms on last year, and they were about as hot as could be. It is all cyclical though. The fact is, the next time she has a hit she'll be showered with attention, and have sweet little stories written about her, like they do with every other celeb as I'm sure Teri Hatcher, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlie Sheen (divorce aside heh), etc. etc. could attest now that they have found big success again on their current shows. Love gets treated pretty well by the media, but if a celeb is around long enough, they’re going to get cheapshots hoisted in their direction every now and then by some misc. hack, it’ll be forgotten as soon as its remembered. Thanks for the info Xator |

However none of that has anything to do with Love and I'll happily buy into psychic powers (and vampires and all the rest) for a TV drama. Hopefully he's not too involved. I certainly would like to see her back on TV again, but I'm not getting my hopes up. | |
