A bunch of us have a bunch of files, and I'm sure we all want more. I do at least. With respect to the JLHNuts, I was hoping to set up something a little less formal and less exclusive. What I'd like to do is coordinate people's file lists. I figured that I would just register for a new Yahoo! Geocities account and use it as the website. People could send me their lists, and I'd post them there. Then we'd know who has what files. That would at least make it easier to know who to ask for specific files. If there would be any volunteers to host files, that would be cool, too. Depending on demand, bandwidth issues, and the size of the files, maybe we could alternate like 5 files a week that people want. Bit Torrent has also been mentioned, so that could be something to do, too. Personally, I'm stuck with an unstable and slow dial-up connection, and my online time is limited because I only have one phone line. It's hard for me to get the larger files if they are shared for short periods of time. Making them available for longer would help to solve that problem. Too, it's hard for me to share stuff with others because it takes awhile for me to upload things. I'm open to any suggestions that any of you might have. PM me or just post it here. I'm pretty good with computer stuff, and I'm more than willing to coordinate everything that I can. The website, itself, will be pretty simple, though. I'll mainly be there to list what's available and where to go find it. I'll try to make it as interactive as possible so people can post requests, etc. Y'all let me know what you think. I'm up for just about anything that is reasonable. I don't have a lot else to do right now, so if the response is there, I could get this started pretty quickly. I don't want this start some sharing war or anything either. I greatly appreciate all of the work that all of the cappers and posters and hosters have done. I'd really rather it not get to where people stop making new files available to us because they don't like how the older ones were handled. Don't include any files that aren't supposed to be shared on the lists that eventually get made. If you made files that you don't want shared, I'll do what I can to make sure they don't get shared if you ask me. If you're worried about who has access to the files (i.e. non-members of the board or whatever), we can try to work that out. Eventually, though, it all comes down to an honor system. While I don't understand why anyone would want his/her work not to be shared with everyone, save maybe some people with whom you have specific issues, I respect your right to do with what you wish with your work. If this thing gets off the ground, I'll do what I can to keep you happy. If you have any suggestions, please make them as specific as possible. I hope to get some sort of mission statement and set of rules to go along with this, but it can't just be all from me. I didn't make any files, and I can't host any at present. I'm just a middle man of sorts dealing with other people's stuff. Well, I hope that this works out. I was a leecher/lurker for a long time before I finally joined, so I'm trying to make amends somewhat now by trying to contribute . Thanks, -B  |

| i would also like a way to obtain more files. alternating 5 videos a week sounds great as well. i don't have a lot to offer (25 vids), but i think you have something here. everytime someone posts about starting something like this, no one responds...i don't get it lol. anyway, i'm in if we can get a host. just like you said before in no way am i against the contributers of this board and jlhnuts.com. i love this forum and it's amazing how so many people contribute, i'd just like access to more videos if possible. with out this forum i'd have like 2 videos lol. thanks. |

I find that hard to believe, but only one person has responded to the post and only one other has contacted me directly. Are there any specific reasons why almost no one thinks this is a good idea? I welcome as much input and participation by as many people who want to be apart of this. I won't be in charge of it all if that's an issue. I just plan to organize the information so we can all share and get files. If someone else wants to do that part, that's fine, too. I think it's fair to say that we get most of our files from here. I got 90% or more of mine from the good folks who've made them available here. I'd like to share what I have as well as get what I don't. I know that I'm not the only one with a slow connection. With members all over the world, time differences can get tricky. PLEASE participate in this. If you just want to say why it shouldn't be done or why it won't work, then post that. If we all get together and collectively work out some guidelines and procedures, I think we'll all be better off. Is it really that bad of an idea???? |

I pm'd Don about 3 weeks ago suggesting for a Bit Torrent community like Sharing the Groove or atleast to set up a sharing room or hub in DC ++. It would be perfect in my opinion since it would distribute the bandwith around much easier, especially on a forum like this. The only possible setback would be if people didn't understand the concept of sharing. In the abstract it would seem that the most ethical course of action would be to share, but u know, human beings and all. Someone just needs to take the iniciative and soon others will follow, atleast one would hope. I recommend using the Shadow Experimental Bit Torrent client for starters. | Why not use USENET? Before you post to the newsgroup let people here know so they can be watching for the files. Upload to alt.binaries.Jennifer.love.hewitt and then anyone can download the files. There is no hassle with bit torrent (which I won't run) no website download quotas to worry about. The only real issues would be a server not getting the whole post, but it's easy to repost segments as opposed to the whole file. Just a thought. |

Geocities. The e-mail address is: jlhmediafiles@yahoo.com The home page will be: http://www.geocities.com/jlhmediafiles/ Keep in mind that this is a freebie thing, so there'll be limits to what can be done with it. It should suffice as a reference point for all of the actual 'action,' though. For those of you who want to share your files, send me a message with your file list to the address above. Please include the following (relevant) information about EACH file: *File name *Original file name if known (I rename most of mine) *File author if known *Name of the event and date if not clear from file name *File size *File time length (for audio/video files) *File format if not obvious Too, please try to group similar files together (if something is in multiple parts, list them together). Separate audio files from video files. Please just put the list in the body of the text (so no attachments, please). Just use common sense with the formatting of the list. Make it readable and I'll sort through it and reformat it as necessary. With your input, I'll standardize some sort of format once I start posting the lists online. ***Your lists will be posted on the website (eventually), and you will be identified as its owner (by FH screen name perhaps) unless there's a good reason why you don't want to be identified. It will take a little while for this to get set up, so if you send me a list now, I'll contact you before I post anything.*** Eventually, I hope to have one big list of all of our collective files as well as each individual "member's" list. I hope to update the lists on a regular basis, especially as new events and their captures come along. Send any suggestions you have, however specific or general to that address, too. Please post those here, too, so that we can all discuss those suggestions. I'll probably post it if you don't if it's relevant enough and if I'm not too lazy. Well, I'm trying to get this rolling. Hopefully those of you who are waiting for some action to happen before you chime realize that this is for real. I can't do it by myself, so help me out. Thanks, -B  P.S. I'll try to check on this at least every couple days, though probably more often at the beginning. If I don't get back to you from the Yahoo! account, PM me here. |

I know we might not all be able to do this but I think those who can should get behind Brent and help him in any way we can... LOVE YOUNG GIFTED & GORGEOUS |

| torrents work. my site had to move, and bandwidth is expensive. Altho, I currently have 250GB to use a month now that is just sitting there.... I'm trying to sell it, but no one wants it The problem w/ torrents is people don't leave their torrents open. it sucks system resources and people shut it down. and for me on campus, all p2p is filtered (so basically, take forever to download, and virtually no uploads). But I have a site w/ 250GB of bandwidth to share. ANd from my past experience, it doesn't last long w/ you guys What it could be used as is an alternative after BT and DC maybe... but I'm just afraid people will just bypass it :( Hit me up w/ an email, and we can talk more. I can also host the files so you don't have a geocities site full of ads and such. This would be really good because I want to share, but am just short on time (well, and money too, but i've already paid for all of it anyway ). Linh |

I can't be too hard on you guys because I'm still working on mine, but something would be nice ;) . What I'm doing (trying, anyway), is just making a playlist in a media player, then saving it (which has caused me problems for some reason). I'd then edit that list in Notepad or something to add the info that's not there. I think RealPlayer plays the most formats, but I'd still have to add a few files manually (.divx files at least). If anyone knows an easier way, let me know. |

If it's stuff like "who made the file" or "waht event is it from?" then you might not be able to tell. The most important information, as far as sharing the files, is a title that is descriptive enough to distinguish it from others, its format, and its size. We can fill in the blanks later once people recognize it. And as far as not having a long list, that's completely cool. That's partly why I'm trying to set this up, to make all of our lists longer. It's entirely possibly that someone with only a few files could have a couple that no one else has. If not, sharing what you have helps out those who don't have those specific files. It'll all work out in the end. |

| http://freeware.prv.pl/ Go to "directory lister" really nify program to list your directory contents straight to HTML (one minor bug is if you don't display optional column data, there's an empty column at the end) |

Please, though, there needs to be more participation if this is going to work. I've only heard from maybe 5 people, and only received 1 list so far. If you think this is a bad idea, then let me know that. I'd rather not put a lot of time and effort into something that's not going to take off. |
