Someone typed up this great interview with Hilary that appeared in Girfriend magazine:

Gf recently caught up with our fave chick Hilary Duff over the phone from Mexico City where she was due to present at the Latin MTV Awards (She even counted to five for us to prove her awesome multilingual skills,or lack thereot!….) The 20 year-old superstar hits oz this Jan and Feb for her Dignity tour,which we’re basically freaking out in anticipation for (Just think about Hils performing Gypsy Women omgggggzagm!) Read on to hear about her busy schedule,her future plans and her sweet new guy….

Gf:You’ve:You’ve been very busy lately so,there’s a bunch of things to talk about! Are you pleased how your album Dignity turned out?
Hilary:Definitely.It was the first time that I wrote the whole record and it’s very personal. It’s really scary to open up and not have any walls up and talk about real stuff,you know? But I’ve never gotten such good reviews on my albums before so it’s defiantly exciting!


Gf:Have:Have you been thinking about your next album?
Kind of. The last record was so different from my previous stuff that I really want the next record to go in a completely different direction again. I want to learn to play a new instrument,I think that would be cool for the next record.

Gf:You’re:You’re also shooting a new movie we saw some pics on the net of you getting pounded by the waves at a beach…..
Oh yeah! I heard that some tabloid reported that I was drowning or something!

Gf:Yeah:Yeah! So it wasn’t true?
(Laughs) No! The movies called Greta and I play a girl growing up and coming to terms with who she is. She gets sent to spend the Summer in New Jersey with her Grandparents,she’s miserable at first and she thinks about killing herself,it’s a very intense story.

Gf:Are there any similarlaties between yourself and the character?
Yeah! I guess everyone has some kind of preconceived of who I’m and that I’m always bubbly and happy. But you know,I’m normal too and I have a different side of me that’s not so easy to explain, and I’ve really been able to pull from that into my character. It’s been really a big learning experience for me and I’ve had to challenge myself a bit.

Gf:We read that your boyfriend Mike (Comrie;pro ice hockey player) bought you a mercedes for your 20th birthday?
He did.

Gf:Do you feel like your going to have to match that gift this Valentines Day?
No! You know,my friend actually asked me that too,and it’s not about that. The way he did it…."I called him and I was like,"You are crazy!" I was in shock, you know? And he was like "It’s the only thing I’ve ever heard you tell your mum you wanted to get yourself so I wanted to get it for you" And I was like "Omg, You’re insane!" But anyway,I defiantly want to get him something really nice,but I’m not going to get him a car! I think that would be so meaningless if i was trying match his gift you know?

Gf:Right.Let’s:Right.Let’s see you could give him a handmade card or something?
(Laughs)Hey,a nice lovely card is a lovely gift,but I think I might have to do a bit more….

Gf:What:What are you looking forward to most these holidays?
Oh,you know what I want the most? I want a vacation. Like,with everyone that I love where there’s no work and nobody has to do anything except eat and lay on the beach and get spoilt! I’ve actually been thinking about it a lot lately. I feel so ignorant. People are always like,"Oh you’ve travelled everywhere you’ve been to Australia and you’ve done this and that….." and I’m like yeah,but I don’t get to see any of it,you know? At the end of the day I’m so exhausted I just want to fall into my hotel bed! So I think this time I’ll see a bit of the country.

Gf:How:How have you been taking care of your body this year?
Well,I’m kind of a pilates junkie.I’m not that disciplined when I’m travelling,but when I’m in LA,I try to do it three times a week and I try to eat right.But you have to eat fast food every once in a while.It puts you in a good mood!

Gf:What:What are your thoughts on the whole size zero trend?
It’s defiantly become a scary obsession for some girls.There’s nothing attractive about it and I think it can consume in your mind if you worry about it.I mean,there’s a lot of attention of celebrites and it can stress you out,so I kinda got obsessed with it for a while there too.It was really crazy too,coz when I started gaining some weight back,I think the press actually noticed I did! So it’s kind of a scary cycle that perpetuates itself.It’s not healthy.

Gf:How:How often do you go out and get totally wild?
Hmmm,I don’t really like going out and acting crazy with my friends,but often I’ll wake up and just wanna try something I’ve never tried before.You know,but I also like to be in control and I like to have fun and also be a bit of a daredevil.

Gf:How:How do you chill out before a gig?
I do my own makeup,it’s very relaxing.I feel if I wasn’t a performer,I’d probably want to be a makeup artist coz I really like it and I feel I’m good at it, too.

Gf:Who’s your ultimate celeb crush?
I actually worked on a film with John Cusack and I love him! He’s so funny and he’s,like,the coolest person on the planet.He’s kind of the cool dork(laughs).We became really good friends when we were working together.

Gf:Your dog’s Jack and Lola are super cute! What are the naughtiest thing they’ve done lately?
Well,Lola’s bad all the time!My dog’s are very smart and they know how to get back at me.If I leave them alone for a few hours,they’ll totally go to the bathroom in the house or something.But they’re totally like my kids;I’m obsessed with them.

Gf:We can’t wait to see you perform when you get down here…
I can’t wait either! I’m excited.The show is so different from what I’ve done before,and I’m looking forward to spending time in Australia.I might even hang out for a bit after the tour. It’s going to be great!
