| By William Keck, USA TODAY UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson joined the rest of the audience at Sunday's Raise Your Voice premiere in singing Happy Birthday to Hilary Duff, who turned 17 last Tuesday. And oh what a very happy birthday it was. Duff's 17th birthday gifts included a new car (to replace her 2004 Range Rover) and a new publicist. By Kevin Winter, Getty Images Duff got a brand-new sports car from Mom and Dad. She'll now share last year's birthday present, an old, run-down 2004 Range Rover, with sister Haylie, who flew Hil down to Cabo San Lucas for a blow-out bash that included snorkeling, Jet Skiing and rock climbing. But Duff's most lucrative present has to be Ken Sunshine, the publicist Duff's parents hired to help transform their famous teen into a successful, bankable leading lady. Sunshine, who handles superstars Leonardo DiCaprio and Ben Affleck, is himself the father of a young daughter. And he says he has what it takes to look after Duff's best interests. "Whatever Hilary wants," Sunshine said of his game plan for the star. At the premiere of her first drama, which opens Friday, the actress said she's in no hurry to flaunt her body for the cover of Rolling Stone, à la rival Lindsay Lohan. "There's no reason to do that kind of thing," Duff said. "You can be sexy and beautiful and keep your clothes on." |
