The mother who is making her daughter's dream come true or the nine-year-old girl who just learned she will be seeing Hilary Duff in concert next week. Cheryl Bronk won two tickets to see the pop queen in concert on Monday from The Winnipeg Sun's suite at the new MTS Centre. Her daughter, Rachel Bronk, was nearly speechless about her mom's lucky win. "I'm very happy," Rachel said with a grin that stretched from one blushing cheek to the other. SOLD OUT IN MINUTES The Bronks, like many others in Winnipeg, were unable to buy Hilary Duff tickets last month after they sold out in a matter of minutes. "The tickets were supposed to be a surprise Christmas and birthday gift for Rachel," said the mother. "We were very disappointed when we were unable to get tickets." The prize package also includes two Hilary Duff CDs and three DVDs. Tickets to the actress-turned-singer's concert have been hard to come by, unless fans -- or their parents -- are willing to pay big bucks for them. A pair of tickets to the concert sold for $2,000 on Wednesday. The ducats, donated by The Winnipeg Sun, were auctioned off on Q-94 FM during CHUM's tsunami disaster relief day, which raised more than $1 million for the Canadian Red Cross. "I heard them on the radio and they said, 'It's too bad we didn't have a pair of Hilary Duff tickets,'" said Lorena Prakash, The Sun's director of marketing and special projects. "I thought it was a small way The Sun could contribute to their efforts." http://www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/Winnip...19898-sun.html |
